Hollow beads having a skin of thermoplastic elastomer and a gas-filled cell are useful in the manufacture of shaped porous articles by thermally bonding or adhering the hollow beads together.

Polycarbonate compositions having improved adhesion to polyurethane layers

Compositions are provided comprising A) at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of aromatic polycarbonate and aromatic polyester carbonate, B) at least one mixture comprising at least one butadiene-based graft polymer prepared by emulsion, suspension or solution polymerization and at least one polybutadiene-free vinyl (co)polymer, and C) at least one polymer additive, where the polybutadiene content based on the sum total of the parts by weight of components A and B is 10% to 20% by weight, and where the total content of butadiene-free vinyl (co)polymer from component B based on the sum total of the parts by weight of components A and B is 12% to 23% by weight. Composite components formed from these compositions and a polyurethane layer, which are notable for improved adhesion between the two layers, and a process for producing the composite components are also provided.

RECYCLED FIBER MATERIAL AND METHOD

A method for preparing a fiber-containing molding compound includes the acts of a) providing a composite material which includes a first resin and fibers impregnated with the first resin, and b) mixing the composite material with a treatment medium which includes a diluent to form a mixture. The fiber-containing molding compound thus prepared has an adjustable fiber content.

TANK BASE
20200354915 · 2020-11-12 ·

A method for the construction of an improved tank base. A tank base is constructed for protection against accidental spills and/or leaks associated with a tank battery. The improved tank base comprises at least one part of a suitable substrate, which allows for the adhesion of an elastomer such as polyurea. Polyurea is preferably applied using a spray device which yields an average coverage of about 50-80 mils, and most preferably 60 mils. If more than one substrate is used, one or more substrates can be bound together with a fastening system. Once pressure is applied in the form of weight, the fastening system can be removed, resulting in an improved tank base having at least one seam and impervious to the fluid of the tank battery.

(SUPER)HYDROPHOBIC ISOCYANATE BASED POROUS MATERIALS

A (super)hydrophobic isocyanate based organic aerogel/xerogel/cryogel having a water contact angle of at least 90 comprising: a cross-linked porous network structure made of polyurethane and/or polyisocyanurate and/or polyurea, and hydrophobic compounds having before the gelling step at least one isocyanate-reactive group and no isocyanate groups
Characterized in that said hydrophobic compounds are covalently bonded within the porous network of the aerogel/xerogel/cryogel and wherein said bondings are created during the gelling step of the formation of the isocyanate based organic aerogel/xerogel/cryogel cross-linked porous network structure.
