A method for producing a binder resin by a reaction of a cellulose derivative, a polyvinyl acetal, and a bonding agent that has in the molecule at least two functional groups that can react to hydroxyl groups in the polyvinyl acetal and the cellulose derivative. In the production method, the content of the bonding agent is at least double the molar quantity of whichever has the greater number of moles between the polyvinyl acetal and the cellulose derivative. The produced binder resin is favorable in a coating paste such as a conductive paste, and causes an improvement in film quality such as the smoothness and denseness of a coating film formed by the paste.

POLYCARBONATE COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING POLYETHYLENE WAX

The invention relates to polycarbonate compositions with an improved thermal behaviour and improved slip characteristics, achieved by the use of oxidised, acid-modified polyethylene waxes.

AMINE-IMINO DIALCOHOL NEUTRALIZING AGENTS FOR LOW VOLATILE COMPOUND AQUEOUS ORGANIC COATING COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR USING SAME

Paint, clear coat, stain, adhesive, or other aqueous formulations that contain at least one [(dimethylamino)alkyl]-imino-dialcohol and a alkyd emulsion, polymer latex or polyurethane dispersion binder. Also disclosed are methods for manufacture and use of these formulations. The [(dimethylamino)alkyl]-imino-dialcohols provide aqueous formulations having low odor and reduced volatile organic compounds (VOC). The [(dimethylamino)alkyl]-imino-dialcohols also aid in dispersing pigment and other solids so less co-dispersant is needed for aqueous paint or coating formulations.

POLYMERS INCLUDING A METHYLENE BETA-KETOESTER AND PRODUCTS FORMED THEREFROM

The present teachings are directed at 1,1-disubstituted alkene monomers (e.g., methylene beta-ketoester monomers), methods for producing the same, polymerizable compositions including a methylene beta-ketoester monomer, and polymers, compositions and products formed therefrom. The monomer preferably is a high purity monomer. In the method for producing the methylene beta-ketoesters of the invention, a beta-ketoester may be reacted with a source of formaldehyde. The methylene beta-ketoester monomers may be used in monomer-based products (e.g., inks, adhesives, coatings, sealants or reactive molding) and polymer-based products (e.g., fibers, films, sheets, medical polymers, composite polymers and surfactants).
