PROTECTIVE COATING FOR WOOD PRODUCTS AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
20220135824 · 2022-05-05 ·

The present invention is a coating containing approximately 10% glass beads used to protect wood products. Applicant has discovered that the best performance occurs when the concentration of glass beads in the coating ranges from 5 wt % to 10 wt %. A shelf-stable paste is first prepared by combining a polyether-based dispersant and a synthetic layered silicate. That paste is then mixed with a binder to form the coating. Preferably, the concentration of glass beads in the paste ranges from 60 wt % to 80 wt %, the concentration of polyether-based dispersant ranges from 20 wt % to 25 wt % and the concentration of synthetic layered silicate ranges from 1 wt % to 3 wt %.

Method for Treating Exterior Lumber Products
20230250308 · 2023-08-10 ·

A method of treating a surface of wood products to inhibit the uptake of moisture into the wood by providing an aqueous formulation comprising polyethylene-vinyl acetate in water, 2-99 percent polyethylene-vinyl acetate by weight. The aqueous formulation is applied to the surface of wood products, wherein the wood products remain outdoors or in a damp environment having 60% or greater relative humidity. The aqueous formulation is allowed to dry and form a micro-film on the surface of the wood products. The moisture content in the wood products is maintained at 16 percent or less. A pesticide effect on the surface of the wood products is produced, inhibiting infestation of the wood products by insects.

Water-based stains are based on an oil-in-water emulsion having a binder that includes, consists of, or consists essentially of drying oil combined with a non-aqueous polymer dispersion. The compositions can be tinted using traditional water-based pigment dispersions, yet the overall hydrophobicity results in minimal interaction with the polar cellulosic structure of wood.

METHOD AND KIT FOR TREATING WOOD WITH RED UNDERTONES
20220118647 · 2022-04-21 ·

In a method for treating wood with red and/or pink undertones to bring it to the desired colour, the wood is provided with one or more finishing layers with the desired colour, and before the finishing layer is applied the wood is provided with a neutralization layer to neutralize the red and/or pink undertones of the wood to be treated. A kit of two different aqueous solutions, which are applied as a single composition for treating wood with red and/or pink undertones, is suitable for neutralizing the red and/or pink undertones of the wood to be treated. The composition is a mixture of a first and a second component, wherein the first component is a solution of a reactive dye in water and the second component is an aqueous alkaline solution, which is suitable for forming covalent bonds with the fibres of the wood to be treated.

COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR WATERPROOFING SURFACES
20220119671 · 2022-04-21 ·

A method for waterproofing a cabinet surface below a water source includes mixing an epoxy glaze to generate a waterproofing mixture; applying the waterproofing mixture to the cabinet surface below the water source; and curing the applied waterproofing mixture to generate a waterproof layer. In some embodiments, a continuous layer of the waterproofing layer is formed on the cabinet surface below the water source, such that a water leak originating from the water source is one or both of: maintained on the waterproof layer on the cabinet surface in a cabinet or caused to flow out from under the water source onto a floor in front of the cabinet. In some embodiments, the epoxy glaze is mixed with a water-based acrylic paint to generate the waterproofing mixture. The method may further include constructing a mold over the surface, such the waterproofing mixture is applied within the mold.
