METHOD FOR PRODUCING DISPERSION OF TITANIUM OXIDE PARTICLES
The invention provides a method for producing an aqueous dispersion of titanium oxide particles which comprises: (a) first step for subjecting an aqueous slurry of titanium oxide particles to wet dispersing treatment in the presence of 15 to 250 parts by mole of acetic acid and 15 to 90 parts by mole of nitric acid each relative to 100 parts by mole of titanium oxide with a medium agitating mill or a high pressure dispersing machine to obtaining an aqueous dispersion of titanium oxide particles before washing, and (b) a second step for washing the aqueous dispersion of titanium oxide particles before washing obtained in the first step (a) to obtain an aqueous dispersion of titanium oxide particles.
The invention further provides a method for producing an alcohol dispersion of titanium oxide particles which comprises: (c) a third step for replacing the dispersion medium of the aqueous dispersion of titanium oxide particles obtained in the second step by an alcohol solvent.
Aqueous polyurethane resin dispersion
An aqueous polyurethane resin having a cationic group in a side chain thereof is obtainable by reacting a polyester polyol, a polyisocyanate, and a diol containing a quaternary N-atom or amino group, the quaternary N-atom or amino group being not present in the carbon chain between the two hydroxyl groups of the diol. The polyester polyol is obtained by reacting an aromatic polycarboxylic acid and a polyol. The polyurethane resin is suitable as a resin in treatment liquids for inkjet printing.
MAGNETIC MULTILAYER PIGMENT FLAKE AND COATING COMPOSITION
The present invention provides a magnetic multilayer pigment flake and a magnetic coating composition that are relatively safe for human health and the environment. The pigment flake includes one or more magnetic layers of a magnetic alloy and one or more dielectric layers of a dielectric material. The magnetic alloy is an iron-chromium alloy or an iron-chromium-aluminum alloy, having a substantially nickel-free composition. The coating composition includes a plurality of the pigment flakes disposed in a binder medium.
Method for forming multilayer coating film
A method for forming a multilayer coating film comprising the steps of: (1) applying a base paint (X) to a substrate to form a base coating film, (2) applying an effect pigment dispersion (Y) to the base coating film formed in step (1) to form an effect coating film, (3) applying a clear paint (Z) to the effect coating film formed in step (2) to form a clear coating film, and (4) heating the uncured base coating film, the uncured effect coating film, and the uncured clear coating film formed in steps (1) to (3) to thereby simultaneously cure these three coating films; wherein the effect pigment dispersion (Y) contains water, a black pigment (A), a vapor deposition metal flake pigment (B), and a rheology control agent (C).
DISPERSIONS
A method of forming a liquid dispersion of 2D material/graphitic nanoplatelets in an aqueous solution is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of (1) creating a dispersing medium; (2) mixing the 2D material/graphitic nanoplatelets into the dispersing medium; and (3) subjecting the 2D material/graphitic nanoplatelets to sufficient shear forces and or crushing forces to reduce the particle size of the 2D material/graphitic nanoplatelets using a mechanical means. The liquid dispersion comprises the 2D material/graphitic nanoplatelets, at least one grinding media, water, and at least one wetting agent, and that the at least one grinding media is water soluble or functionalised to be water soluble.
SURFACE-MODIFIED PARTICLE MATERIAL AND SLURRY COMPOSITION
A particle material that has high dispersibility in a dispersion medium such as toluene having high hydrophobicity, and a slurry composition in which the particle material is used, are provided for solving the problem. A surface-modified particle material of the present invention includes: a particle material formed of an inorganic material; and a surface treatment agent formed of a silane compound having a first functional group that has any of C, N, and O atoms away over five or more atoms from Si to which an alkoxide is bound, the surface treatment agent allowing surface treatment of the particle material in such an amount that a degree of hydrophobicity becomes not less than 30%. Dispersibility is enhanced also in a dispersion medium having high hydrophobicity in a case where a functional group having a predetermined structure is introduced so as to impart predetermined or higher hydrophobicity.
Coating Compositions and Methods, and Articles Coated with Same
Described are sealing primer compositions that can be used to reduce paint defects such as pops or vapor boil on painted plastic substrates, as well as related methods for sealing plastic substrates, and sealed plastic substrates. Sealing primer compositions of the invention include a functionalized polydiene polymer such as a hydroxylated or other functional-group-containing polybutadiene polymer.
