Methods of preparing surfaces of sample wells are provided. In some aspects, methods of preparing a sample well surface involve contacting the sample well with a block copolymer to form an antifouling overlay over a metal oxide surface of the sample well. In some aspects, methods of passivating and/or selectively functionalizing a sample well surface are provided.

Low temperature cure coating formed via a double layer curing mechanism of a pigmented waterborne baselayer and a solventborne top layer

Shelf-stable low temperature cure coating compositions that include a hydroxy-functional resin, a crosslinking agent, and a catalyst that does not catalyze the crosslinking reaction between hydroxy-functional resin and the crosslinking agent contained therein, but instead between a hydroxy-functional resin and a crosslinking agent contained in a different low temperature cure coating composition. In addition, low temperature cure composite coatings that include: a waterborne basecoat containing a first hydroxy-functional resin, a first crosslinking agent, a first catalyst, and an organic solvent; and a solventborne topcoat containing a second hydroxy-functional resin, a second crosslinking agent, a second catalyst, and water, where the first catalyst migrates into the topcoat from the basecoat and catalyzes the reaction between the second hydroxy-functional resin and crosslinking agent, and the second catalyst migrates into the basecoat from the topcoat and catalyzes the reaction between the first hydroxy-functional resin and crosslinking agent.

Method for Providing a Substrate with an Antimicrobial Coating, and Coated Substrates Obtainable Thereby

The invention relates to the field of antimicrobial materials, in particular to implantable and other medical devices exhibiting antimicrobial activity. Provided is a method for providing a substrate with an antimicrobial coating by immobilizing a quaternary ammonium compound onto the surface of said substrate, comprising the polycondensation of AB.sub.2 monomers comprising a secondary amine as A-group and blocked isocyanates as B-groups to obtain a low number average molecular weight polyurea of at least 2500 Da, contacting said polyurea with a surface grafted with coupling agent to covalently anchor the polyurea, and continuing polycondensation to obtain a hyperbranched polyurea coating; followed by immobilizing onto said coating a hydrophobic N-alkylated polyethylenimine (PEI) having antimicrobial properties.

A graphene-containing composite material comprises components of a composite functional material with a double-conductive channel and a polymer matrix. The composite functional material with a double-conductive channel is sulfonated graphene surface grafted conductive polymer poly-3,4-(ethylenedioxythiophene). The composite functional material with a double-conductive channel and the graphene-containing composite material can be used for preparing a piezoresistance response material or an antistatic or electromagnetic shielding material and the like, and have excellent piezoresistance response, piezoresistance repeatability and electromagnetic shielding effect. The present invention is simple and easy to operate, can be used in large scale production, has excellent piezoresistance performance and very sensitive piezoresistance response, with the percolation threshold being only 0.5 wt %; not only the original performance of the polymer can be maintained, but also an unstable conductive network system can be formed, which facilitates the improvement of the sensitivity of the piezoresistance response.
