METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION OF A LIGNIN PREPOLYMER
The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of a lignin prepolymer, comprising (a) providing a lignin; (b) reacting the lignin with a hydroxyl functionalization reagent to provide a lignin derivative containing at least one hydroxyl group, said hydroxyl group being obtained as a result of the interaction between the lignin and the hydroxyl functionalization reagent (c) reacting the lignin derivative obtained in step (b) with a functionalization reagent selected from the group consisting of fatty acids, fatty acid derivatives and mixtures thereof capable to react with the lignin derivative resulting in a covalent bond between the fatty acid and/or or the fatty acid derivative and the lignin derivative.
NOVEL PROCESS AND COMPOSITION FOR DUST CONTROL
Compositions for dust suppression, methods for forming the compositions, and methods for using the compositions are provided. In one embodiment, the composition includes a non-sulfonated lignin and an alkylene glycol alkyl ether solvent. The compositions may be applied to an exposed surface of a substrate.
HYDROPHOBIC NANOCELLULOSE-COATED PAPER AND PAPERBOARD
In some variations, the present invention provides an oil-resistant paperboard material coated with hydrophobic nanocellulose. The paperboard material is free of a fluorocarbon coating. In other variations, an oil-resistant paper is coated with hydrophobic nanocellulose and is free of a fluorocarbon coating. The hydrophobic nanocellulose may include lignin-coated cellulose nanofibrils, lignin-coated cellulose nanocrystals, or a combination thereof. A process for producing these materials is also provided, comprising: fractionating a lignocellulosic biomass feedstock in the presence of an acid, a solvent for lignin, and water, to generate cellulose-rich solids and a liquid containing hemicellulose and lignin, wherein a portion of the lignin deposits onto a surface of the cellulose-rich solids, thereby rendering the cellulose-rich solids at least partially hydrophobic; mechanically treating the cellulose-rich solids to form hydrophobic nanocellulose; and coating a paper or paperboard material with the hydrophobic nanocellulose, to generate an oil-resistant paper or paperboard material.
Ether functionalized lignin for fuel production
The present invention relates to a composition comprising lignin and a solvent where the lignin is functionalized with an ether group.
METHOD OF DIRECTED FOULING OF A SUBSTANCE ONTO A SELECTED SURFACE
Provided is a method for directed fouling of a substance onto a selected surface. Also provided is an apparatus suitable for directed fouling of a substance onto a selected surface.
Binder compositions and uses thereof
The present invention relates to a new aqueous curable binder composition comprising a polyphenolic macromolecular compound which bears a multitude of catechol radicals (dihydroxybenzene), preferably lignosulfonate salts and condensed tannins and mixtures thereof, and a polyamine functional compound comprising primary and/or secondary and/or tertiary and/or quaternary amine functional groups, suitable for bonding particulate matter, such as fibers, more particularly mineral wool fibers, or particles, such as wood particles.

METHOD FOR COATING METAL SURFACES OF SUBSTRATES, AND OBJECTS COATED ACCORDING TO SAID METHOD
A coating, a method for coating surfaces, and the coated surfaces. The method includes providing a substrate with a cleaned metal surface; contacting and coating the metal surface with an aqueous composition having a ph of from 0.5 to 7.0 and in the form of a dispersion and/or a suspension; optionally rinsing the organic coating; and drying and/or baking the organic coating, or optionally drying the organic coating and coating same with a similar or another coating composition thereto. The composition contains a complex fluoride in a quantity of 1.1 10.sup.6 mol/l to 0.30 mol/l based on the cations. An anionic polyelectrolyte in a quantity of 0.01 to 5.0 wt % based on the total mass of the resulting mixture is added to an anionically stabilized dispersion made of film-forming polymers and/or a suspension made of film-forming inorganic particles.
Lignosulfonate dispersion self-healing polyurea coating, preparation method therefor, coating layer thereof and application thereof
A lignosulfonate dispersion self-healing polyurea coating and a preparation method therefor. The coating is obtained by reacting the following components in parts by mass: 1-10 parts of microcapsules of a lignosulfonate-embedded healing agent; 10-100 parts a polyurea prepolymer; 20-120 parts of a mixed solution of an amino-terminated polyether and a sterically hindered amine chain extender. The preparation method for the coating comprises the steps of at room temperature, adding a mixed solution of microcapsules of a lignosulfonate-embedded healing agent, an amino-terminated polyether and a sterically hindered amine chain extender into a polyurea prepolymer and reacting same at room temperature for 10 min-4 h. The self-healing polyurea coating may be applied to the field of material surface protection, i.e., corrosion resistance of steel structures, especially marine steel structures.
