The present invention provides an adhesive composition which has a cured product exhibiting high transparency and a high refractive index, and which has high adhesive strength and experiences little reduction in the adhesive strength, even when exposed to high temperatures. In order to achieve the above the adhesive composition includes: (1) a hydrocarbon polymer having a total light transmittance of visible light, as measured according to JIS K7361-1, of at least 80%; (2) at least one kind of (meth)acrylic monomer selected from a mono(meth)acrylic monomer having one (meth)acrylic group in a molecule and a di(meth)acrylic monomer having two (meth)acrylic groups in a molecule; and (3) a photoinitiator; wherein 30-190 parts by weight of component (2) are included relative to 100 parts by weight of component (1).

The methods for producing a UV-curable acrylic copolymer is disclosed. The method includes polymerizing a mixture of monomers comprising (i) 40-95 wt % of at a (meth)acrylate monomer, (ii) 5-60 wt % of a copolymerizable monomer, wherein said monomer is selected from those whose homopolymers have a glass transition temperature of higher than 30 C., and (iii) optionally 0.5-20 wt % of a copolymerizable functional monomer having a functional group selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group to form an acrylic copolymer. The method includes reacting the acrylic copolymer with at least one type of monomer comprising a UV-curable functional group in the presence of a catalyst to form the UV-curable acrylic copolymer. Also encompassed are UV-curable acrylic copolymers thus formed, adhesive composition comprising the UV-curable acrylic copolymers, methods for manufacturing adhesive sheets comprising the UV-curable acrylic copolymers, and use of the UV-curable acrylic copolymers.

A pressure sensitive adhesive composition is described comprising at least one low Tg (meth)acrylic polymer, and at least one silsesquioxane polymer crosslinker comprising a plurality of ethylenically unsaturated groups. The low Tg (meth)acrylic polymer typically has a Tg no greater than 10 C. In some embodiments, the low Tg (meth)acrylic polymer comprises at least 50, 55, 60, 65, or 70 wt-% of polymerized units derived from low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer(s). The low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer(s) is typically an alkyl (meth)acrylate comprising 4 to 20 carbon atoms. Also described are pressure sensitive adhesive articles and methods of preparing such articles.

Provided is an adhesive tape including an adhesive layer, the adhesive layer containing an acrylic copolymer containing a structural unit derived from an alkyl (meth)acrylate and a structural unit derived from an olefin polymer having a polymerizable unsaturated double bond at an end, the adhesive layer having a swelling ratio of 40 or greater and 500 or less when immersed in tetrahydrofuran at a temperature of 25 C. for 24 hours.

Adhesive composition and methods of forming the same

An adhesive may include an adhesive structure and an adhesive composition. The adhesive structure may include a graft copolymer. The adhesive composition may include at least about 1 wt. % and not greater than 40 wt. % of a macromonomer component for a total weight of the adhesive composition, at least about 50 wt. % and not greater than about 98 wt. % of a (meth)acrylic based polymeric component A for a total weight of the adhesive composition, and at least about 0.1 wt. % and not greater than about 30 wt. % of a tackifier component for a total weight of the adhesive composition. The macromonomer component may have a weight-average molecular weight of at least 1000 g/mol and a glass transition temperature (Tg) of at least about 40 C. The (meth)acrylic based polymeric component A may have a glass transition temperature (Tg) of not greater than about 20 C.

ADHESIVE MATERIAL WITH TRIGGERABLE ON-DEMAND DETACHMENT

An adhesive material that provides fast and robust adhesion on wet surfaces, where the adhesion formed is detachable on-demand. The adhesive material is formed of one or more hydrophilic polymers or copolymers grafted with one or more amine coupling groups via a plurality of cleavable physical bonds and/or cleavable covalent bonds and one or more cross linkers. Application of the adhesive material on a wet surface causes the adhesive material to absorb liquid to thereby swell the adhesive material to form a layer of hydrogel, resulting in the formation of temporary crosslinks followed by covalent crosslinks with the surface. Introducing a triggering agent cleaves the cleavable physical bonds and/or cleavable covalent bonds to allow for non-traumatic detachment of the adhesive material from the surface.

High strength, silane-modified polymer adhesive composition

Disclosed is a moisture curable adhesive composition comprising at least one silane-modified polymer, a filler comprising a surface modified fumed silica and one of a surface modified cristobalite and a silica; and optionally, at least one of an aminosilane adhesion promotor, an organotin catalyst, a dehydration shelf life enhancer, a light stabilizer, titanium dioxide, a rheology modifier, and mixtures thereof. The adhesive composition finds special use in bonding metal substrates to each other with significantly higher bond strength than that provided by silane-modified polymer adhesives alone.
