20250188332 · 2025-06-12 ·

In general, the present disclosure is directed to an adhesive composition. The adhesive composition may include a functionalized lignin and a hardener. For instance, the hardener may include a silyl ether. The functionalized lignin and hardener may be present in the adhesive composition at a weight ratio of from about 1:10 to about 10:1.

Bio-based Adhesive Composition Based on Lignin

The present invention relates to an adhesive composition based on a lignin structure, wherein the lignin structure is a lignin functionalised by reaction with dimethylformamide and acrylic acid.

Formaldehyde-free medium-high-density board capable of meeting deep facing requirements and method for manufacturing same

The present invention relates to a formaldehyde-free medium-high-density board capable of meeting deep facing requirements, and a method for manufacturing same. The method includes: wood chipping, screening, cooking and softening, fiber separating, gluing, drying and sorting, paving, pre-pressing, hot pressing, cooling, sanding, and inspection and warehousing, where the gluing is two-step gluing, including: first performing gluing once by using a lignin adhesive, and then performing secondary gluing by using an MDI adhesive after waterproof treatment. According to the manufacturing method of the present invention, by using biomass adhesives and formaldehyde-free adhesives without adding additives such as a curing agent and an anti-mildew agent, formaldehyde pollution is eliminated from the source by using a two-step gluing method, so that production is formaldehyde-free, and the product is formaldehyde-free. Through the sequential control of the gluing process and the grasp of the gluing type and ratio, surface hardness of the product is improved, and the final product is capable of deep facing to reach 20 to 80 filaments.

Aqueous binder composition

The invention is directed to an aqueous binder composition for mineral fibers.

LIGNIN-BASED ADHESIVE FORMULATIONS AND RELATED METHODS

Adhesive compositions are provided which comprise a crosslinked lignin polymer network comprising lignin polymer chains and carbodiimide linkages, wherein crosslinks are present between the lignin polymer chains, between portions of a lignin polymer chain, or both, and wherein the carbodiimide linkages are each represented by formula NCN, wherein at least one represents a covalent bond that connects the carbodiimide linkage to a lignin polymer chain. Adhesive formulations for providing the adhesive compositions are also provided as well as related methods.

Method of making a binder composition, and binder composition

The invention relates to a method for treating lignin, wherein the method comprises the following steps: a) dissolving lignin into an aqueous composition, which contains a compound selected from the class of phenols, while keeping the temperature of the composition at 0-60 C.; and b) allowing the composition to react while keeping the temperature of the composition at 60-100 C. and the pH of the composition at a pH value of 6-14. The invention relates further to a method for producing a binder composition and to different applications thereof.

Lignin-based phenolic adhesives, related compositions, and related methods

The disclosure relates to adhesive compositions, including non-crosslinked resins and crosslinked/cured adhesives joining substrates, as well as related methods for making the compositions and articles. Compared to a conventional phenol (P) and formaldehyde (F) resin, the disclosed methods and compositions use lignin (L) and higher aldehydes (A) as corresponding replacements to provide an analog to a conventional PF resin with biobased reactants. Due to the differing reactivity of the LA components compared to the PF components, the initial condensation reaction between ortho-reactive sites in the lignin and the aldehyde is controlled to prevent gelation of the aqueous reaction mixture while reacting substantially all of the LA reactants to provide a non-crosslinked resin reaction product. The resin reaction product can then be cured at high temperature/high pressure conditions to provide a crosslinked adhesive, for example joining two substrates.
