Bio-based polymers from raw lignocellulosic biomass
Disclosed herein is a method of making polymerizable bio-based monomers containing one phenolic hydroxyl group which has been derivatized to provide at least one polymerizable functional group which is an ethylenically unsaturated functional group (such as a [meth]acrylate group), where the precursors of the polymerizable bio-based monomers are derived from raw lignin-containing biomass. Also disclosed herein are bio-based copolymers prepared from such bio-based monomers and a co-monomer, and methods of making and using such bio-based copolymers. In particular, the bio-based copolymers can be used as pressure sensitive adhesives, binders, and polymer electrolytes.
TWO COMPONENT (2K) CURABLE ADHESIVE COMPOSITION
The present invention is directed to a curable and debondable two-part (2K) adhesive composition comprising: i) a first part comprising: (meth)acrylate monomer; co-polymerizable acid; and, an electrolyte; and, ii) a second part comprising: a first curing agent for the monomers of said first part; a second curing agent for the monomers of said first part; and, a solubilizer.
MEDICAL TAPES WITH HIGH OPTICAL CLARITY WHEN OVER-TAPED
Medical tapes include an optically transparent tape backing and an optically transparent adhesive layer, typically a pressure sensitive adhesive, disposed on the backing The tape is optically transparent and has a moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) of at least 250 g/m.sup.2 /24 hrs/37° C./100-10% RH using the inverted cup method. The tape remains optically transparent when over-taped, such that a multi-layer tape stack of at least 2 layers of tape are formed.

Provided are an adhesive sheet, an adhesive composition therefor, an optical member comprising same, and an optical display device comprising same, wherein the adhesive sheet comprises an adhesive layer formed of an adhesive composition containing a hydroxyl group-containing (meth)acrylic copolymer, a photo-initiator, a photo-curable crosslinking agent, and a heat-curable crosslinking agent; the heat-curable crosslinking agent contains an isocyanate-type crosslinking agent and carboxyl group-containing (meth)acrylate; the adhesive layer has a peeling strength of about 600 gf/in or more relative to a glass substrate at 25° C. and has a surface energy of about 70 mN/m or more at 25° C.
DOUBLE-SIDED ADHESIVE TAPE
Provided is a double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape excellent in reworkability. A double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, wherein the acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive is formed from an acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive composition, wherein the double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape has a load at an elongation of 100% of 7 N/10 mm or less, and wherein the double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape has a load at an elongation of 500% of 20 N/10 mm or less.
DOUBLE-SIDED ADHESIVE TAPE
A double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive includes an acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, wherein the acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive is formed from an acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive composition, wherein the acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive composition contains an acrylic partially polymerized product obtained by polymerizing a monomer component (m1), a monomer component (m2), a cross-linking agent, and a photopolymerization initiator, wherein the monomer component (m2) contains an alkyl (meth)acrylate having, at an ester terminal thereof, an alkyl group having 4 to 10 carbon atoms, and a polymerizable monomer whose corresponding homopolymer has a Tg of 0° C. or more, and wherein in the monomer component (m2), a content of the polymerizable monomer whose corresponding homopolymer has a Tg of 0° C. or more is from 10 parts by weight to 90 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the alkyl (meth)acrylate having, at an ester terminal thereof, an alkyl group having 4 to 10 carbon atoms.
Curable compositions
Useful articles, such as coatings, adhesives, printed graphics, 3D printed articles and molded articles are prepared by curing compositions containing one or more salts of ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids comprising six or more carbon atoms, one or more multifunctional (meth)acrylate oligomers and one or more mono(meth)acrylate esters of alcohols which, when polymerized as homopolymers, have glass transition temperatures of at least 50° C.
PAPER ARTICLE COMPRISING A PAPER COMPONENT AND A HEAT-SEALABLE COATING
The present invention refers to a paper article comprising a paper component having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side and/or the second side of the paper component is at least partially coated with a heat-sealable coating, wherein the heat-sealable coating comprises a first polymer comprising units derived from a (meth)acrylate and/or (meth)acrylic acid and/or a salt thereof, and a second polymer, being different from the first polymer, comprising units derived from a) a (meth)acrylate and/or (meth)acrylic acid and/or a salt thereof, and b) an alkene, wherein the first polymer and the second polymer are present in the heat-sealable coating in a weight ratio of 90:10 to 35:65, and wherein the first polymer and the second polymer are present in the heat-sealable coating in an overall amount of at least 50 wt. %, based on the total weight of the coating. Furthermore, the present invention refers to a laminate comprising a paper component, a substrate and a heat-seal layer being present between the paper component and the substrate, which is obtained by heat-sealing a paper article according to the present invention to the substrate. The invention also refers to a use of a coating for heat-sealing a paper component to a substrate.
