Systems and methods of apparel manufacturing using adhesive bonding

Embodiments include methods of making a fabric laminates including depositing a first and a second columns of discrete adhesive masses on a first layer of fabric, wherein the first and second columns of discrete adhesive masses are separated by a first gap area, and placing a second layer of fabric on the first layer of fabric sandwiching the first and second columns of discrete adhesive masses, and applying pressure to all layers to form a fabric laminate structure while maintaining the first gap area unobstructed and forming a tunnel area between the first gap area and the first and second fabric layers. In some embodiments, ribbons may be pulled through the tunnels. In some embodiments, the tunnels include batting material. In some embodiments, films are placed on the first or second fabric layer and they imprint their surface finish onto the discrete adhesive masses wetting the surface of the fabric layers.

Many garments made of denim material have factory created one or more discontinuities exposing a group of parallel threads and referred to as distressed denim. Sometimes, some or all of these threads become torn or rips or tears occur in the denim garment to create a discontinuity. A patch to cover the discontinuity is made of a plurality of side by side threads attached to one side of an adhesive panel and fabric material is attached to the other side of the adhesive panel. The threads, or entire patch, may be printed with indicia.

Textile repurposing and sustainable garment design

This disclosure addresses a problem in relation to the environmental destruction that excessive apparel production can produce. In various embodiments, existing textile products are deconstructed into pieces of fabric and then reassembled into apparel in a manner that creates minimal or zero waste. In some embodiments, the fabric pieces will be positioned inside of one or more pattern pieces so as to completely cover each one without overlapping its border. The positioned pieces will be treated with an adhesive and then have a paper layer adhered to it to hold the positioned fabric pieces in place while they are stitched together. Then, the resulting sandwich will be soaked to remove the paper and dissolve the adhesive. The resulting unified fabric component will then be available to be stitched together with other similarly formed fabric components to form a garment.

A method and system for creating a clothing enhanced to more readily retain a particular shape, for example in order to create a more flattering look for the wearer. In an exemplary embodiment, an article of clothing may be treated with heat applied transfers which may stiffen the clothing in particular areas in order to provide support, contouring, and lift; eligible clothing may include, for example, jeans, which may be enhanced in order to provide a more pronounced and flattering rear portion for the user. Such a method and system may be combined with other methods and systems, for example a method and system for creating a clothing with enhanced durability using a heat transfer, in order to achieve a resulting article that may have desirable properties, such as breathability, flexibility, stiffness, or durability, in addition to its ability to retain a particular shape more readily.
