Liquid crystal material, liquid crystal display panel, and manufacturing method thereof
A liquid crystal material, a liquid crystal display panel, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. The liquid crystal material includes negative liquid crystal molecules and one or more thiol polymerizable monomers. The display panel uses a polymer film obtained by polymerization of a click chemistry reaction of a “thiol and double bond” system to anchor an orientation state of the liquid crystal molecules on the substrate surface, with few impurities and a low risk of image sticking displayed on the panel.
Electronic device
An electronic device has a structure in which two portions between which a bent portion of a display panel is positioned are each fixed to a housing. The electronic device takes two forms of a form in which the display panel is opened and a form in which the display panel is folded in three. The electronic device includes a mechanism for sliding two housings parallel to each other. The display panel is changed in shape so that a portion where a display surface of the display panel is convexly curved and a portion where the display surface of the display panel is concavely curved in the folded state move in directions parallel and opposite to each other. At this time, the two portions of the display panel which are supported by the housings are slid while their display surfaces maintain a state parallel to each other.
Control of illumination spectra for LCD displays
Color conversion films for a LCD (liquid crystal display) having RGB (red, green, blue) color filters, as well as such displays, formulations, precursors and methods are provided, which improve display performances with respect to color gamut, energy efficiency, materials and costs. The color conversion films absorb backlight illumination and convert the energy to green and/or red emission at high efficiency, specified wavelength ranges and narrow emission peaks. Film integration and display configurations further enhance the display performance with color conversion films utilizing various color conversion elements and possibly patterned and/or integrated with a crosstalk blocking matrix. For example, color conversion and/or assistant dyes may be used to enhance spectral regions transmitted through the color filters and shape the illumination spectrum, to improve efficiency and performance.

A composite photoalignment layer for aligning liquid crystal molecules includes: a monomeric material; a photoinitiator or a thermal initiator; and an azo dye material. A method for preparing a composite photoalignment layer for aligning liquid crystal molecules includes: mixing, in solution form, a monomeric material, a photoinitiator or a thermal initiator, and an azo dye material; coating the mixed solution onto a substrate to form a thin film; exposing the thin film to polarized light; and, with a thermal initiator, heating the thin film to polymerize the monomeric material and form a solid thin film.

A laminate having: a barrier layer A; and a light absorption anisotropic film B, in which the barrier layer A is adjacently provided on the light absorption anisotropic film B, a relationship between a highest content of a compound A1 contained in the barrier layer A and a highest content of a compound B1 contained in the light absorption anisotropic film B satisfies a relationship in which a value of distance calculated from Hansen solubility parameters and represented by Formula (I) is within a range of 0.0 to 5.0, and the light absorption anisotropic film B contains a component same as the compound A1.

Liquid crystal display device
A liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a thin-film transistor substrate, a counter substrate facing the thin-film transistor substrate, a liquid crystal layer provided between the thin-film transistor substrate and the counter substrate, an alignment film provided on the thin-film transistor substrate; a sealing material which bonds together the thin-film transistor substrate and the counter substrate at the periphery of the liquid crystal layer, and a polymerized layer provided on the liquid crystal layer-side surface of the alignment film. The alignment film contains a first polymer and a second polymer of a different type from that of the first polymer and is chemically bonded to the sealing material, the first polymer and the second polymer contained in the alignment film are mixed in a surface layer in contact with the liquid crystal layer, and the first polymer and the second polymer have different photo-functional groups.
