A shock absorbing cap provides shock abortion in the space between the interior of a traditional safety helmet and the head of the wearer. The cap has a first region next to the scalp which is made of 100% knitted cotton for comfort and the absorption of sweat. A second region is made of 100% wool fleece braided fiber bundles that extend alternately in longitudinal and lateral directions sufficiently to nearly fill the space. The outermost region is made of one or more layers of braided 100% carbon fiber bundles, which run the opposite direction of the last wool lock. In an alternative, the first region is used but the second region completely fills the space with woven aramid and carbon fiber squares laid on top of each other and sewn together. The uppermost portion is laser cut for a tight but comfortable fit under the helmet.

The cover includes a plurality of layers comprising at least one layer inward from the resilient member adapted to separate the resilient member from a head received in the head-receiving cavity and at least two outer layers outward from the resilient member to which the resilient member is secured. In accordance with another aspect, a method of fabricating a surgical cap is provided.

The length of elastic element is applied to the fabric by a means selected from the group consisting of direct welding and indirect welding. A method is provided for elasticizing a fabric, said elasticized fabric being free of stitches or holes. The method involves providing a stack of fabric to be elasticized; stretching and positioning a length of elastic element against a first of the fabric in the stack; applying one or more ends of the elastic element to the fabric by a means selected from directly welding and indirectly welding; moving the first fabric to expose the next fabric in the stack to be elasticized; and repeating the steps for the next fabric.

One illustrative method comprises steps such as: cutting a raw material of a hat crown into a plurality of pieces, then bonding such material in pairs using an ultrasonic sewing machine, applying to seam areas a hot-pressing bonding technology of heat-seal adhesive tape, and/or otherwise completing the manufacturing of the hat crown; manufacturing a visor by using a high-frequency hot-pressing technology; manufacturing a sweatband by using a one-time hot-pressing technology; bonding the hat crown, the visor, and the sweatband with an ultrasonic sewing machine; and fixing a rear fastener or a tail belt through rivets. The disclosed technology makes it easier to realize intelligent and automatic reformation of the manufacturing line.
