Additives for fuels and oils comprising functionalised diblock copolymers

Concentrates containing specific functionalised diblock copolymers serve as effective additives for improving the cold flow behaviour of fuels and oils, the copolymers being derived from a terminally-unsaturated intermediate polymer obtained via a metallocene process involving hydrogen.

High density renewable fuels based on barbatene and thujopsene

A process for making high density fuels having the potential to increase the range and/or loiter time of Navy platforms. Derivation of these fuels from a sustainable source will decrease the carbon footprint of the Department of Defense (DoD) and reduce reliance on nonsustainable petroleum sources. Fuels based on barbatene and thujopsene have volumetric energy densities comparable to JP-10 and can be produced from biomass sugars.

High density renewable fuels from santalenes

A process for making high density fuels having the potential to increase the range and/or loiter time of Navy platforms. Derivation of these fuels from a sustainable source will decrease the carbon footprint of the Department of Defense (DoD) and reduce reliance on nonsustainable petroleum sources. Fuels based on santalenes have volumetric energy densities greater than JP-5 and F-76 and can be produced from biomass sugars.

Lubricating compositions containing isoprene based components

A lubricating composition comprising a base oil of lubricating viscosity and one or more lubricant additives, wherein the base oil comprises or consists of a base stock which comprises or consists of at least one isoprenoid compound comprising: (i) one or two oxygen-containing moieties independently selected from ether and ester moieties; (ii) a first acyclic isoprenoid moiety containing 1 to 5 isoprenyl units; and (iii) optionally, a second acyclic isoprenoid moiety containing 1 to 5 isoprenyl units with the proviso that at least one isoprenoid moiety contains 3 to 5 isoprenyl units where the isoprenoid compound contains a single ether moiety.

Intergland grease

The present disclosure relates to an intergland grease formed from a base grease and a lubricating intergland grease additive, such as PTFE or a lubricating liquid polymer, such as polybutene. The present disclosure further relates to a roller cone drill bit including such an intergland grease.

Fire-retardant materials

A fire-retardant material comprising from 25 to 50 wt % base oil, from 0.5 to 2.5 wt % polymer, from 0.1 to 1.0 wt % antioxidant, and from 50 to 75 wt % flame retardant.
