20180087000 · 2018-03-29 ·

An environmentally-improved motor oil blend and related methods for properly lubricating components of an engine and favorably modifying a plastic response of components of the engine, the blend being free of zinc di-alkyl-di-thiophosphates (ZDDP) and free of zinc di-thiophosphate (ZDTP), comprising: a motor oil selected from the motor oil group consisting of Group I, Group II, Group III, Group IV, and Group V motor oils; a motor oil additive comprising alpha-olefins and hydroisomerized hydro-treated severe hydrocracked base oil; ZDDP omitted from the chemical constituents of the motor oil; and ZDTP omitted from the chemical constituents of the motor oil.

HEAT TREATMENT OIL COMPOSITION

A heat treatment oil composition is provided that suppresses the decrease of luster in a heat treatment of a metal material, and is capable of suppressing the increase of the number of second (characteristic number of second) until reaching the temperature where the vapor blanket stage ends with the lapse of time and the decrease of the kinetic viscosity with the lapse of time. The heat treatment oil composition contains (A) a base oil and (B) a vapor blanket breaking agent selected from one or more of a petroleum resin, a terpene resin, rosin, and derivatives thereof.

SYSTEM FOR GENERATING HIGH-LUBRICITY SUBSTANCES FOR LUBRICATION OF A MECHANICAL DEVICE

A system is provided for creating a high lubricity substance from a fuel while said fuel is being used to operate a mechanical device such as an engine, thereby increasing the lubricity the fuel and allowing the fuel to be used as a lubricant for various tribological surfaces inside the engine without the use of further additives or modifiers. In this regard, an embodiment of the present disclosure may include a device that has a first surface upon which is deposited a film. The first surface of the device and the associated film may be in continual contact with a fuel. The device may comprise a second surface that is brought into periodic and/or repeated contact with the first surface, such as through sliding contact, rolling contact, a combination of the two, and/or the like.

LUBRICANTS WITH TITANIUM AND/OR TUNGSTEN AND THEIR USE FOR IMPROVING LOW SPEED PRE-IGNITION

A lubricating oil composition and method of operating a boosted internal combustion engine. The lubricating oil composition includes a major amount of a base oil, one or more overbased calcium-containing detergents having a total base number of greater than 225 mg KOH/gram, to provide greater than 900 ppm by weight to less than 2400 ppm by weight of calcium to the lubricating oil composition, and a low speed pre-ignition reducing amount of one or more titanium-containing compounds to provide from 10 ppm to 3000 ppm titanium and/or one or more tungsten-containing compounds to provide from 125 ppm to 3000 ppm tungsten, all based on the total weight of the lubricating composition. The low speed pre-ignition events in the boosted internal combustion engine may be reduced relative to a number of low speed pre-ignition events in the same engine lubricated with the same lubricating oil without the titanium- and/or tungsten-containing additive.
