Footwear for use on sand and other granular terrain
The subject matter of the present disclosure relates, in various embodiments, to improved footwear in the nature of sandals, shoes, sports shoes, running and jogging shoes, civilian and military boots, work boots and work shoes, water shoes, waders, and the like, for personal use in walking on sand and other granular terrain, each item of footwear comprising a distinctively profiled outsole. A left outsole profile is defined by a first radius, and a right outsole profile is defined by a second radius. A line connecting the center of each radius passes through and defines the centers of the side profiles of the outsole. A preferred toe-out or progressive angle of approximately six degrees helps ensure that the outsole, during use, is near the widest position for optimal left and right side balance.

BIOINDICATOR COMPONENT APPLIED TO AN ARTICLE
A bioindicator assembly for determining a level of CO.sub.2 in a surrounding environment includes an article and a bioindicator component applied to the article. The bioindicator component includes a composite fabric that has a substrate, wherein a biodegradable material is applied to the substrate, a membrane that is coupled with the composite fabric to define an interior cavity, the membrane being semi-permeable, a bioindicator that changes color, form, shape, or texture when exposed to CO.sub.2, and an attachment mechanism coupled to a rear side of the composite fabric.
ARTICLE HAVING A MICROBIAL SENSOR SYSTEM
An article of footwear is provided that includes an insole member. The insole member includes a base layer, an intermediate layer having a plurality of cavities, and a microbial layer having a plurality of microbial mediums with one or more microorganisms therein. Further, the cavities receive the microbial mediums of the microbial layer.

Article of footwear with cooling features
The present invention is directed toward an article of footwear effective to regulate the temperature of the feet of a wearer. In an embodiment, the article of footwear includes an upper and an insole with a thermal effect membrane. The thermal effect membrane contains a plurality of system-reactive components selectively engaged heat and/or moisture. In an embodiment, the printed coating includes a cooling agent, a phase change material, and a heat dissipation material. The bottom of the sole structure of the article of footwear further includes a multiple openings in the forefoot, midfoot, and hindfoot regions. The multiple openings promote airflow into the interior of the upper. In operation, the article of footwear is effective to delay/diminish the rise in skin temperature (compared to footwear lacking the membrane and/or openings), increasing wearer comfort.
MOBILIZING MUSCULOSKELETAL STRUCTURES
An injured musculoskeletal structure is mobilized relative to a juxtaposing support structure surface to isolate the injured musculoskeletal structure from forces transferred from adjoining musculoskeletal structures in order to alleviate pain, discomfort, inflammation, and further injury associated with such transferred forces.

FUNCTIONAL FOOTWEAR UNIT
The invention relates to a functional footwear unit, in particular in the form of knit-of-parts, which has preferably a particularly modular protective function against chemical and/or biological toxic and/or harmful substances, especially warfare agents. The invention also relates to the uses thereof.
Flexible foot abduction apparatus
A flexible foot abduction apparatus allowing movement in a horizontal and vertical plane with an elongated member made of a shape memory material. The elongated bar is shaped such that it has both vertical and horizontal aspects to allow a user to more easily manipulate the apparatus in one or both planes. The elongated member has an original shape which can be selectively forced into a second shape by a user and then return to the original shape.
