Provided is, among other things, a shoe having a sole that includes multiple layers and an upper attached to and extending above the sole. In addition, the shoe includes a tab having: (1) a first portion, located between adjacent layers of the sole and thus hidden from view, that is imprinted with identification information pertaining to the shoe and (2) a second portion that is visible during ordinary use of the shoe.

A method of manufacturing a customized article of footwear comprises receiving a request for an upper with a specified characteristic, and assembling the modular article of footwear having an upper in accordance with the request.

A shoe includes: an upper member containing a knit fabric, a knit-like fabric, and/or a woven fabric as a primary member and forming a part of a medial side surface, a part of a lateral side surface, and a part of a back surface; an outsole member made of thermoplastic resin and forming a bottom portion including a contact surface, and a peripheral portion attached at least partially to respective lower parts of the medial and lateral side surfaces and a lower part of the back surface and connected to the bottom portion; and a sock liner inserted in interior space defined by the upper member and the outsole member. The upper member defines an opening at which at least a part of the lateral side surface is cut. The outsole member includes a window portion covering the opening. The window portion is made of a semi-transparent material that makes at least a part of a lateral side surface of the sock liner in the interior space visible through the window portion covering the opening.

An article of footwear having an upper portion and a footbed portion that may be aligned with apertures proximate specified edges or locations. The footbed portion includes a concave edge extending between the footbed toe end and the footbed heel end along the footbed medial side and a plurality of forming apertures along the medial side. The upper portion also includes a plurality of forming apertures extending along the medial side.

Present aspects are directed to an interlocking braided shoe and midsole system comprising a midsole insert having a plurality of protruding studs and a braided upper comprising a tubular containment structure. The tubular containment structure has a first zone comprising a first braid density and first braid configuration defining a plurality of apertures located on a top surface of the braided upper and a second zone having a second braid density and a second braid configuration defining a plurality of apertures located on the bottom surface of the braided upper. The plurality of apertures of the second braid configuration correspond to the plurality of protruding studs such that the plurality of protruding studs extend below an exterior surface of the braided upper through the plurality of apertures of the second braided configuration, coupling the bottom surface of the midsole insert with the braided upper.
