A lubricating composition includes at least one base oil, at least one dispersant and at least one phosphite polymer having formula (I) wherein each of the R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 can be independently selected from the C1-C20 alkyl, C3-C22 alkenyl, C6-C40 cycloalkyl, C7-C40 cycloalkenyl, C1-20 methoxy alkyl glycol ethers and Y—OH groups; Y is selected from among the C2-C40 alkylene, C2-C40 alkyl lactone —R.sup.7—N(R.sup.8)—R.sup.9— groups, R.sup.7, R.sup.8 and R.sup.9 are independently selected from among hydrogen, C1-C20 alkyl, C3-C22 alkenyl, C6-C40 cycloalkyl, C7-C40 cycloalkenyl, C1-20 methoxy alkyl glycol ethers; m is an integer from 2 to 100; and n is an integer from 1 to 1000.

LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF OPERATING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

The instant disclosure generally relates to lubricating compositions having an oil of lubricating viscosity, a boron-containing additive, a boron-free dispersant, an overbased magnesium-based detergent, an overbased calcium-based detergent, an ashless friction modifier, and, optionally, other performance additives. The instant lubricating composition has a High Temperature High Shear (HTHS) viscosity according to ASTM D4683 of less than 2.7 mPa s. The instant lubricating compositions disclosed herein may accomplish one or more of the following improve fuel economy, reduce corrosion, reduce oxidation, improve cleanliness, and improve wear performance of an internal combustion engine.

Compositions resulting from the mixing of at least one oligomer A1, resulting from the copolymerization of at least one monomer functionalized by diol functions with at least a second monomer, and at least one compound A2 including at least two boronic ester functions. The compositions exhibit very varied rheological properties, depending on the proportion of the compounds A1 and A2 used. A composition also results from mixing at least one lubricating oil with such a composition of associative and exchangeable polymers, and to the use of this composition to lubricate a mechanical part.

A crankcase lubricating oil composition for the crankcase of a spark-ignited or compression-ignited internal combustion engine, comprising a magnesium-containing detergent, in an amount sufficient to provide from 200-4000 ppm magnesium to the lubricating oil composition, in combination with an oil-soluble or oil-dispersible molybdenum compound in an amount sufficient to provide from 600-1500 ppm molybdenum atoms to the lubricating oil composition, and with an oil-soluble or oil-dispersible boron-containing compound in an amount sufficient to provide from 200-600 ppm boron atoms to the lubricating oil composition to improve the friction and fuel economy performance.

Long duration fuel economy lubricating composition

In the field of lubricating compositions, in particular to the Fuel Economy (FE) properties of lubricating compositions, there is disclosed the combined use of at least one derivative of molybdenum and at least one derivative of boron to maintain the Fuel Economy (FE) properties of a lubricating composition also including at least one base oil. Also disclosed is a use, within a lubricating composition including at least one base oil, of a combination of at least one derivative of molybdenum and at least one derivative of boron, and at least 30 ppm and at most 600 ppm of born boron relative to the weight of the lubricating composition to preserve the Fuel Economy (FE) properties of this lubricating composition.

A lubricating oil composition for an internal combustion engine has a HTHS viscosity at 150° C. of 2.25 to <2.55 mPa.Math.s and includes: (A) a lubricating base oil including (a) mineral base oil(s) and/or (a) synthetic base oil(s), and having a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. of 3.8-4.6 mm.sup.2/s; (B) 1000-2000 mass ppm, in terms of metal content, of a metallic detergent including (a) metal salicylate detergent(s), and delivering ≥10 mmol/kg of total salicylate soap base per kilogram of the composition; (C) 1.0 to 4.0 mass % of a comb-shaped poly(meth)acrylate having a Mw of 350,000-1,000,000 and a PDI of ≤4.0; and (D) 100-1000 mass ppm, in terms of nitrogen, of a succinimide dispersant including (i) (a) non-modified succinimide dispersant(s) and/or (ii) (a) boric acid-modified succinimide dispersant(s), wherein the (i) and the (ii), in total, deliver 70 mass % of total nitrogen content of the component (D).
