Lubricating compositions and methods of operating an internal combustion engine
The instant disclosure generally relates to lubricating compositions having an oil of lubricating viscosity, a mixture of boron-containing and boron-free dispersants, an overbased magnesium-based detergent, an overbased calcium-based detergent, a molybdenum-containing material, and, optionally, other performance additives. The instant lubricating compositions may improve one or more of cleanliness, TBN retention, fuel economy and low-speed preignition (LSPI).
Dispersant and detergent systems for improved motor oil performance
The present disclosure relates to passenger car motor oil lubricating oil compositions having select dispersant and detergent systems to improve at least one of deposits, sludge, oxidization, and wear when using a blend of API Group II base oils with one or more API Group III and/or API Group IV base oils. The dispersant systems herein includes select amounts of boron, nitrogen, and total base number contributions that surprisingly achieve performance even when including higher amounts of the API Group II base oils in the lubricants.
Thermoassociative and exchangeable copolymers, and composition comprising same
A comb copolymer A2 including at least two boronic ester functions, the copolymer including a main chain and side chains, and at least one portion of the side chains of the copolymer A2 made of oligomers. Also, a composition resulting from mixing at least one polydiol compound A1 and a copolymer A2. The compositions exhibit very varied rheological properties depending on the proportion of the compounds A1 and A2 used. Also, a lubricant composition including such a mixture and at least one lubricating oil. Also, use of this composition to lubricate a mechanical part.
THERMOASSOCIATIVE AND EXCHANGEABLE COPOLYMERS, COMPOSITION COMPRISING SAME
Compositions resulting from the mixing of at least one copolymer A1, resulting from the copolymerization of at least one monomer functionalized by diol functions with at least one styrenic monomer, and at least one compound A2 comprising at least two boronic ester functions. They have very varied rheological properties depending on the proportion of compounds A1 and A2 used. Composition resulting from the mixing of at least one lubricating oil with such a composition of associative and exchangeable polymers and use of this composition for lubricating a mechanical part.

The present disclosure further provides a lubricating composition or hydraulic oil that includes at least one lubricating base oil and an antiwear composition (such as, a non-zinc-based or substantially zinc-free antiwear agent) including an effective amount of molybdenum dithiocarbamate. The disclosure also provides methods of making and using the same.
Lubricating oil compositions and methods of use thereof
A method for improving oxidation stability and viscosity control, while maintaining or improving cleanliness performance and deposit control, in an engine or other mechanical component lubricated with a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and a mixture of (i) at least one detergent, and (ii) at least one antioxidant, or a mixture of (i) at least one detergent, (ii) at least one dispersant, and (iii) at least one antioxidant, as minor components. The at least one detergent comprises a sulfonate detergent, the at least one dispersant comprises a borated dispersant, and the at least one antioxidant includes an alkylated diphenylamine. The engine or other mechanical component is lubricated with the lubricating oil operating in the presence of biodiesel fuel. A lubricating oil formulated with the above major and minor components.
