Lubricant dispersed with carbon nanotubes

The present subject matter describes a method for preparation of a lubricant dispersed with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and a lubricant dispersed with the CNTs prepared thereof. The method comprises ball milling the CNTs and purifying the ball milled CNTs to remove impurities in the CNTs. The method also comprises oxidizing surfaces of the purified CNTs by adding the purified CNTs to a solution comprising at least one oxidizing acid and then refluxing the solution. The oxidized surfaces of the CNTs are modified by adding the CNTs to a solution comprising at least one fatty acid to obtain surface modified CNTs. The method also comprises dispersing the surface modified CNTs in a lubricant to obtain the lubricant dispersed with CNTs.

[Problem] To provide an aqueous coating agent composition (in particular, an aqueous coating composition for lubricating films that contains a solid lubricant) which as a whole is excellent in terms of flowability, applicability, and storage stability and which is capable of forming satisfactory and smooth coating films effective in stick-slip inhibition. [Solution] The problem can be solved with an aqueous coating agent composition which comprises (A) a curable resin in an aqueous emulsion form, (B) a surfactant, (C) solid particles, (D) one or more nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds, (E) a film-forming silicone in an aqueous emulsion form, and (F) water. In particular, it is preferable that the (C) component comprise a solid lubricant. In view of the environmental regulations, it is especially preferable that the (D) component be 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone.

Polyolefin-derived dispersants

Ethylene-C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha olefin copolymers, dispersants and lubricating oils/fuel compositions incorporating dispersants, and related methods are generally described herein. The copolymer may comprise ethylene-derived units and C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units. The C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units may have a carbon number from three to ten. For example, the C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units may be propylene-derived units.

Lubricant, mixed powder for powder metallurgy, and method for producing sintered body

One aspect of the present invention is a lubricant to be incorporated into a powder metallurgical mixed powder containing an iron-based powder. The lubricant includes a flaky organic material having an average particle diameter of from 0.1 m to less than 3 m. Another aspect of the present invention is a powder metallurgical mixed powder which contains an iron-based powder and the lubricant. Yet another aspect of the present invention is a method for producing a sintered compact. The method includes the step of mixing materials to give a powder metallurgical mixed powder containing an iron-based powder and the lubricant. The powder metallurgical mixed powder is compacted using a die to give a powder compact. The powder compact is sintered to give a sintered compact.
