Process for producing biodiesel and related products
There is described a process for producing biodiesel and related products from mixtures. There is also described a process for producing precursors and feedstock materials for producing biodiesel and related products. The processes use esterification and trans-esterification, separation and purification. Other process steps such as acidification and distillation can also be used.
Seed oil compositions
The present invention is directed to seed oil compositions that can be used for cooking and frying applications. These oil compositions of the present invention have advantageous stability characteristics. In some embodiments, the oil compositions have a low concentration of -linolenic acid.
Process for removing chloropropanols and/or glycidol, or their fatty acid esters, from glyceride oil, and an improved glyceride oil refining process comprising the same
The present invention is directed to a basic ionic liquid treatment for removing chloropropanol and/or glycidol, or their fatty acid esters, from glyceride oil, as well as a process for refining glyceride oil which includes the basic ionic liquid treatment. The present invention also relates to uses of the basic ionic liquid and glyceride oil compositions obtained from the ionic liquid treatment.
Coix seed oil containing 11 triglycerides, and pharmaceutical preparation and use thereof
The present invention relates to Coix seed oil extracted from Semen Coicis, pharmaceutical preparations thereof, and the use thereof in the treatment of tumors. Specifically, the Coix seed oil contains 11 triglyceride ingredients in the following mass percentages: trilinolein 4.87-6.99%, 1-olein-2,3-dilinolein 13.00-18.69%, 1-palmitin-2,3-dilinolein 5.25-7.54%, 1,3-diolein-2-linolein 13.23-19.02%, 1-palmitin-2-linolein-3-olein 10.26-14.75%, 1,3-dipalmitin-2-linolein 2.28-3.28%, triolein 14.44-20.76% and 1-palmitin-2,3-diolein 8.06-11.58%, 1-olein-2-linolein-3-stearin 1.37-1.97%, 1,3-dipalmitin-2-olein 1.52-2.19% and 1,2-diolein-3-stearin 1.29-1.86%.
Polymerized oils and methods of manufacturing the same
Described herein is a polymerized biorenewable, previously modified, or functionalized oil, comprising a polymeric distribution having about 2 to about 80 wt % oligomer content, a polydispersity index ranging from about 1.30 to about 2.20, and sulfur content ranging from 0.001 wt % to about 8 wt %. Methods of manufacturing the polymerized oil as well as its incorporation into asphalt paving, roofing, and coating applications are also described.
Polymerized oils and methods of manufacturing the same
Described herein is a polymerized biorenewable, petroleum based, previously modified, or functionalized oil, comprising a polymeric distribution having about 2 to about 80 wt % oligomer content, a polydispersity index ranging from about 1.0 to about 5.0, and sulfur content ranging from 0.001 wt % to about 8 wt %. Methods of manufacturing the polymerized oil as well as its incorporation into asphalt paving, roofing, and coating applications are also described.
Organic material processing system
An extraction system comprises an extraction chamber having an end cap at an one end accepting organic matter and gas or liquid solvent. A collection vessel is attached below the extraction chamber, a viewing vessel is sealed at an acute angle to a sidewall of the collection vessel enabling visual inspection at the collection plate. A gas tank is connected to the extraction chamber introducing solvent and a frame supports chamber by axles fixedly mounted on opposite sides of the extraction chamber, said axles supported by the frame structure enabling free rotation of the chamber about the axles. After gas is introduced to the organic matter, the extraction chamber is rotated vigorously about the axis, the one end is then connected to the open upper end of the collection vessel, and a lipid yield is collected at the collection plate.
BIOEFFECTIVE KRILL OIL COMPOSITIONS
This invention discloses new krill oil compositions characterized by having high amounts of phospholipids, astaxanthin esters and/or omega-3 contents. The krill oils are obtained from krill meal using supercritical fluid extraction in a two stage process. Stage 1 removes the neutral lipid by extracting with neat supercritical CO.sub.2 or CO.sub.2 plus approximately 5% of a co-solvent. Stage 2 extracts the actual krill oils by using supercritical CO.sub.2 in combination with approximately 20% ethanol. The krill oil materials obtained are compared with commercially available krill oil and found to be more bioeffective in a number of areas such as anti-inflammation, anti-oxidant effects, improving insulin resistances and improving blood lipid profile.
Solar steam explosion of algae
A system includes an algae bioreactor that contains an algae slurry, a heat exchanger in fluid communication with the algae bioreactor to receive the algae slurry from the algae bioreactor and heat and increase a pressure of the algae slurry, and one or more valves and a flash vessel in fluid communication with a discharge of the heat exchanger to flash the algae slurry and create steam and algae biomass. A separator receives the algae biomass from the flash vessel and separates oils from the algae biomass to generate a biofuel.
