Production of fatty acid alkyl esters with caustic treatment
A method for producing fatty acid alkyl esters, comprising providing a system comprising an oil phase/hydrophobic phase an a hydrophilic phase, and reacting a fatty acid feedstock present in said oil phase/hydrophobic phase with alcohol in the presence of water and one or more lipolytic enzymes.
Potassium soaps that can be thickened with chloride salts
Natural liquid potassium soap compositions and methods of manufacturing and using the same are provided with thickening by the addition of chloride salts, such as sodium chloride and potassium chloride. The natural liquid potassium soap compositions may contain one or more fatty acids with carbon length ranging from four (C4) to twenty-two (C22) or natural fatty acid mixtures with coconut oil, olive oil, tallow, sunflower oil, safflower oil, and/or tall oil fatty acids which are saponified with lye. The saponification lye is preferably potassium hydroxide. Preferred embodiments contain potassium salts of fatty acids comprising at least oleic acid (C18:1 cis-9), olive oils, coconut oils or mixtures thereof. The chloride salt is added in either solid or liquid form following saponification and neutralization.
Alpha omega bifunctional fatty acids
The present disclosure describes an engineered microorganism for producing alpha omega bifunctional C6-16 fatty acids from renewable carbon sources.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING ESSENTIAL OILS
A system for processing essential oils includes a mixing tank, three winterization vessels, three respective filtering vessels, a fine filtering vessel, a holding tank, an evaporator, an essential oil reservoir, a solvent reservoir, and a solvent filtering vessel. The evaporator can include a heat exchanger configured to heat a plate down which a mixture including the oils flows, to evaporate other components of the mixture. Fluids can be advanced through the system using a pressurized inert gas.
Method for purification of animal or vegetable fats
Present invention relates to a novel process for purification of lipid material for further use as such as e.g. a source of fuel or chemicals.
Methods and apparatus for producing alkyl esters from lipid feed stocks, alcohol feedstocks, and acids
Embodiments herein relate to the production of alkyl esters from lipid feed stocks. In an embodiment, a process for producing alkyl esters is included. The process can include mixing a lipid feed stock with an alcohol, water, and at least one of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and/or one or more acids to form a reaction mixture, and contacting the reaction mixture with a catalyst under supercritical conditions for the alcohol, the catalyst comprising a metal oxide. Other embodiments are also included herein.
Oil comprising polyunsaturated fatty acids
The present invention relates to a process for producing ethyl esters of polyunsaturated fatty acids, comprising transesterifying triacylglycerols in extracted plant lipid.
Composition of matter polyols for polyurethane applications
There are provided ester polyols prepared from the esterification of ozone acids and branched primary polyols. There are also provided ester polyol esters prepared from an ester polyol of the invention and further esterifying the ester polyol with at least one carboxylic acid to produce at least one ester polyol ester. There are also provided rigid or flexible foams prepared using the ester polyols and/or ester polyol esters of the invention. There is also provided a coating prepared from the ester polyols and/or ester polyols esters of the invention.
Wax modifier in hydrocarbon fluid and method of using the same
Compositions may include a wax modifier that is the product of a reaction between a polysaccharide having a number of sugar subunits in the range of 2 to 60 and one or more fatty acid reagents, and a reservoir fluid produced from a subterranean formation comprising one or more components capable of producing waxes. Methods may include contacting a hydrocarbon fluid with a wax modifier, wherein the wax modifier is the product of the reaction of a polysaccharide and one or more fatty acid reagents. Methods may also include introducing a wax modifier into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, wherein the wax modifier is the product of a reaction between a polysaccharide and one or more fatty acid reagents; producing hydrocarbons from the subterranean formation; and allowing the wax modifier to inhibit the precipitation of a wax.
