Compositions and methods for the diagnosis and treatment of tumor
The present invention is directed to compositions of matter useful for the diagnosis and treatment of tumor in mammals and to methods of using those compositions of matter for the same.
High-yield production of fuels and petro- and oleo-chemical precursors from vegetable oils and other liquid feedstocks in a continuous-flow pyrolysis reactor with or without catalysts
Systems, methods, and materials for pyrolyzing vegetable oil feedstocks to obtain high yields of various products are described.

TAILORED OILS
Recombinant DNA techniques are used to produce oleaginous recombinant cells that produce triglyceride oils having desired fatty acid profiles and regiospecific or stereospecific profiles. Genes manipulated include those encoding stearoyl-ACP desaturase, delta 12 fatty acid desaturase, acyl-ACP thioesterase, ketoacyl-ACP synthase, and lysophosphatidic acid acyltransferase. The oil produced can have enhanced oxidative or thermal stability, or can be useful as a frying oil, shortening, roll-in shortening, tempering fat, cocoa butter replacement, as a lubricant, or as a feedstock for various chemical processes. The fatty acid profile can be enriched in midchain profiles or the oil can be enriched in triglycerides of the saturated-unsaturated-saturated type.
Lubricant composition of matter and methods of preparation
Ester polyol esters are a unique class of lubricants that have adjustable molecular weights, viscosities, and pour points based on the character of their reaction materials and relative ratios. There is provided a method for preparing at least one ester polyol ester, the method comprising esterifying an ester polyol reaction mixture to produce ester polyol, the reaction mixture comprising an ozone acid mixture and at least one primary polyol, wherein the ozone acid mixture comprises at least one dicarboxylic acid and at least one monocarboxylic acid; and capping the ester polyol with at least one capping carboxylic acid to produce ester polyol ester.
Concentration of fatty acid alkyl esters by enzymatic reactions with glycerol
An enzymatic process for the kinetic separation of alkyl esters under organic solvent free conditions is disclosed. Alkyl esters obtained from e.g. fish oil are reacted with glycerol, in the presence of water, at different rates in an evacuated chamber. The reaction is terminated prior to reaching equilibrium and the enriched alkyl ester fraction is isolated from the reaction mixture by short path distillation.
NOVEL PROCESS FOR SEPARATING AND PURIFYING COMPONENTS IN TALL OIL FATTY ACIDS
The present disclosure provides an efficient process for separating components of tall oil fatty acids (TOFA) and for purifying TOFA from rosin. The process includes mixing TOFA with a novel solvent system containing urea to form urea clathrates, resulting in separation of saturated fatty acids from unsaturated ones and rosin from TOFA by utilizing proper urea to TOFA ratio.
OIL COMPRISING POLYUNSATURATED FATTY ACIDS
The present invention relates to a process for producing ethyl esters of polyunsaturated fatty acids, comprising transesterifying triacylglycerols in extracted plant lipid.
Membrane-based washing and deacidification of oils
Membrane-based method of washing and deacidification of oils, wherein a stream of oil is conveyed from an oil reservoir along one side of porous hydrophobic membrane, and washing aqueous solution is conveyed along another side of this membrane. The membranes form hollow fibers, and their total surface area and porosity are large enough for efficient removal of fatty acids, water, ions and hydrophilic organic impurities from oil. Membrane pore size is small enough, so that hydrodynamic mixing of oil and aqueous solution does not take place. Additional stabilization of oil/water meniscus in the pores is achieved by transmembrane pressure difference.
Methods of producing algal cell cultures and biomass, lipid compounds and compositions, and related products
The present invention is directed to methods of producing algal biomass and algal cell cultures, and lipid compounds and compositions thereof, including fatty acids, carotenoids and fat soluble vitamins. The present invention is further directed to methods of preparing related food products and industrial and pharmaceutical compositions. In various exemplary embodiments, the methods comprise growing algae in a juice based medium, including a medium that contains natural nitrogen or a medium that is free of chemical additives and preservatives, to produce algal cell cultures, algal biomass, algae derived lipid compounds and compositions, and related products, all that can be certified organic.
