Systems, devices, and methods for introducing additives to a pressurised vessel

An additive dispensing device for dispensing of additives into a pressurised vessel, more particularly a fermentation vessel of a brewing system, is disclosed. The device has a vessel body including a chamber, the chamber having a closed end and an open end. A pressure release means is provided between the chamber and atmosphere. A controllable valve positioned between the closed end and the open end, configured to selectively open and close a flow path between the closed end and the open end.

METHOD FOR OPERATING FOOD PROCESSING DEVICE AND FOOD PROCESSING DEVICE

A method for operating a food processing device includes an irradiation step. The food processing device includes a reaction vessel and a catalyst reactor. The reaction vessel receives a mixture in a liquid form including a raw material for a food product and water. The catalyst reactor is disposed in the reaction vessel. The catalyst reactor includes a reaction tube and a light source disposed in the reaction tube. The reaction tube has an outer surface on which a photocatalyst is provided, and transmits light emitted from the light source. The method for operating the food processing device includes the irradiation step of performing irradiation with light from the light source while water is in contact with the outer surface of the reaction tube in a period after a reaction product is removed from the reaction vessel and before a raw material is subsequently introduced into the reaction vessel.

Polypeptide and yeast cell compositions and methods of using the same

Polypeptides comprising maltose/maltotriose transporters are provided. Additionally, polynucleotides, DNA constructs, and vectors encoding a maltose/maltotriose transporter, or yeast cells harboring such polynucleotides are provided. The yeast cell may be a Saccharomyces eubayanus cell modified to increase the expression or transport activity of a maltose/maltotriose transporter at the plasma membrane of the cell. Further, methods are provided for making a fermentation product by culturing any one of the yeast cells described herein with a fermentable substrate. Finally, methods are provided to select for and isolate maltotriose-utilizing strains of Saccharomyces eubayanus.
