Midscale Model For Organic Growth and Phasing
20190367858 · 2019-12-05 ·

The present disclosure is directed to the organic growth and phasing design for a system for the industrial growth of biologics. A system may include a number of subsystems, such as a buffer distribution subsystem, a media preparation subsystem, a bioreactor subsystem, a harvest subsystem, and/or a purification subsystem. The subsystems may be highly interconnected for flexible process flow design. Additionally, the subsystems may be constructed with a total output capacity with a total number of equipment stations and operated at a lower output capacity with fewer than the total equipment stations to maintain headroom for growth in phases.

Use of a fluidic device
10487349 · 2019-11-26 · ·

A fluidic device (1) has a culture chamber (10) configured to house a 3D culture matrix (2) comprising a culture of microorganisms (6). A concentration gradient of a test substance is established over the 3D culture matrix (2) by providing respective fluid flows at different end portions (12, 14) of the culture chamber (10) and comprising different concentrations of the test substance. The response of the microorganisms (6) to the test substance is determined based on the position of a border zone (5) in the 3D culture matrix (2).

Automated Cell Culturing

An automated cell culture system includes a cell culture reactor including a housing; a fluidic circuit for cell culture media, the fluidic circuit disposed in an interior of the housing. The fluidic circuit includes a culture vessel for culturing cells in the cell culture media, a reservoir for the cell culture media, the reservoir fluidically connected to the culture vessel, and a pump configured to pump the cell culture media in the fluidic circuit. The automated cell culture system includes one or more sensors disposed in the interior of the housing, each sensor configured to detect a parameter of one or more of (1) the cell culture media in the fluidic circuit and (2) an environment in the interior of the housing; and a computing device configured to automatically control operation of the cell culture reactor based on one or more of the detected parameters.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A SUGAR STREAM
20190309377 · 2019-10-10 ·

An improved dry grind system and method for producing a sugar stream from grains or similar carbohydrate sources and/or residues, such as for biochemical production. In particular, after saccharification and prior to a sugar conversion process, a sugar/carbohydrate stream is removed from a saccharified stream. The sugar/carbohydrate stream includes a desired Dextrose Equivalent (DE) where DE describes the degree of conversion of starch to dextrose can be produced, with the such sugar stream being available for biochemical production, e.g., alcohol production, or other processes. In addition, the systems and methods also can involve the removal of certain grain components, e.g., corn kernel components, including protein and/or fiber. Sugar stream production occurs on the front end of the system and method.
