A specimen container includes a well having an opening to store fluid. An opening plane, and first and second cross sections have outer peripheral shapes dissimilar to each other and in a plan view, the second cross section is contained in the first cross section and the first cross section is contained in the opening plane. The opening plane, and the first and second cross sections are defined in a horizontal posture of the body. The opening plane is a projected plane of the opening of the well on a horizontal plane. The first cross section is a horizontal cross section of the internal space taken at a position corresponding to a first depth defined vertically downwardly from the opening. The second cross section is a horizontal cross section of the internal space taken at a position corresponding to a second depth greater than the first depth.

The multi-sensor component has a housing that can be introduced by a front housing segment into an uptake opening extending through the port of the container so that the front housing segment is facing the inside of the container. The multi-sensor component has a first sensor unit or a mount for a first sensor unit arranged on the front housing segment and has a second sensor unit or a mount for a second sensor unit arranged on the front housing segment.

Modular tubular bioreactor

Embodiments of a modular tubular bioreactor system for culturing an aqueous culture of microorganisms are described herein. The tubular bioreactor may comprise culture tubes configured in a vertically spaced and horizontally staggered arrangement to optimize the application of light to the culture in phototrophic and mixotrophic cultivation.

Mechanical and Electrical Intracellular Access for Cells with Tough Cell Walls

A high-throughput method, device and system technology is provided capable of unconstrained penetration into virtually any cell type. This technology is completely agnostic to the cargo type or size (DNA, RNA or protein), is ultra-robust due to use of stiff metals, and has a direct path to scalabillity. This technology will serve as an effective method of intracellular delivery. In addition, this device is reusable and capable with working with all cell types, regardless of cell stiffness, and is potentially capable of penetrating into the nucleus of a cell. An intra-cellularly delivery device with an elongated structure with an ultra-sharp tip of less than 10 nanometers enables this technology whereby intracellular access is gained with little to no observable deformation of the cell walls. This dramatically increases the likelihood of cell survival and successful delivery.

Cassette for sterility testing

The invention provides a device for growing cellsreferred to as a cassette. The cell culturing device includes a housing that contains a lid having an optically clear window; a fluid distribution channel; a sample injection port fluidically connected to the fluid distribution channel; a base housing a porous media pad; and a media injection port fluidically connected to the media pad. The lid mates to the base to form a sterile seal; the fluid distribution channel is disposed over the media pad, which is viewable through the optical window; and sample fluid introduced into the fluid distribution channel is distributed evenly to the media pad, e.g., via a plurality of channels. The invention also provides kits that include cassettes of the invention and a tube set.

There is described a method of reducing or preventing the agglomeration of spheroids comprising the use of a cell culture device comprising: a cell culture chamber comprising a base and side walls extending from the base to enclose a volume of the cell culture chamber; an inlet in the base or side walls of the cell culture chamber adapted for fluid communication into the chamber; and an outlet in the base or side walls of the cell culture chamber adapted for fluid communication out of the chamber; wherein the base of the cell culture chamber comprises a discontinuous surface adapted to reduce or prevent the agglomeration of spheroids.

Culture container and cell culturing method and cell observation method using culture container

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a culture container capable of preventing a concave meniscus without using a jig. In order to achieve this purpose, the present invention provides a culture container (1A) provided with: a base (3) having a concave portion (4); and a water-repellent layer (5) formed on an outer edge region (411) of the bottom (41) of the concave portion (4) and the inner circumferential surface (42) of the concave portion (4). One of the surfaces of the water-repellent layer (5) is exposed to the space in the concave portion (4).

Stirred Tank Reactor Systems and Methods of Use

A reactor system includes a support housing having an interior surface bounding a chamber, the chamber having a vertically extending central longitudinal axis. A flexible bag is disposed within the chamber of the support housing and has an interior surface bounding a compartment. A mixing element is disposed within the compartment of the flexible bag. A drive element, such as a drive shaft, is secured the mixing element, wherein the mixing element is laterally offset from and/or is angled relative to the vertically extending central longitudinal axis of the support housing.

Methods and Apparatus for Gas Stream Mass Transfer with a Liquid

A system for performing a gas-liquid mass transfer includes a container bounding a compartment and having a top wall, a bottom wall, and an encircling sidewall extending therebetween. A tube has a first end and an opposing second end, the first end of the tube being disposed within the compartment of the container. A nozzle is disposed within the compartment of the container and has at least one outlet, the nozzle being coupled with the tube so that a gas can be passed through the tube and out the at least one outlet of the nozzle. The nozzle is sufficiently buoyant so that when a fluid is disposed within the compartment of the container, the nozzle floats on the fluid.

SALT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR PORTABLE RENEWABLE ENERGY MICROGENERATION SYSTEM
20200223726 · 2020-07-16 ·

A renewable energy microgeneration apparatus is disclosed that includes a mixing tank that mixes waste with a liquid, a buffer tank that receives and pre-warms the mixed waste, a pasteurization tank that pasteurizes on the pre-warmed mixed waste, a digestion tank that performs anaerobic digestion on the pasteurized waste, a de-watering device that separates liquid digestate and removes salt from the liquid, sensors that measure salinity and biogas quality, and a controller. The controller causes the transfer of digestate from the digestion tank to the pasteurization tank to the dewatering device, causes the de-watering device to separate the liquid and remove the salt from the liquid, monitors the salinity of the liquid and the quality of biogas using the sensors, and causes the mixing of the liquid with the waste and adjusts the feed rate of the waste to reduce the salinity of the waste and increase methane production.
