Integrated closure device components and methods

A lace tensioning device includes a housing component having an interior region, a first aperture, and a second aperture, and a spool component that is rotatably positionable within the interior region of the housing component. The spool component has a central cylindrical member and a lumen that extends through the central cylindrical portion. The spool component is rotatable within the interior region of the housing component to align one end of the lumen with the first aperture and to align an opposite end of the lumen with the second aperture to enable a lace to be inserted through the first aperture, the lumen, and the second aperture so that opposing ends of the lace are positioned exterior to the housing component. A knot may then be tied in the lace and the lace retracted to couple the lace with the housing component and spool component.

Shoelaces with location monitoring systems
09930485 · 2018-03-27 · ·

Systems and methods for monitoring the location of a wearer of a shoelace and providing alerts when the wearer is not within the pre-established parameters are disclosed. A shoelace has a location monitoring device irremovably housed within it. The location monitoring device contains a global positioning system, a transmitter, and a battery. The shoelace can include a microphone communicatively coupled to the location monitoring device. A disclosed method includes receiving, by a location monitoring server, a plurality of pre-established parameters associated a wearer of the shoelace. A unique identifier, which authenticates identity of the shoelace, and location data of the shoelace from the global positioning system housed inside the shoelace are also sent to the location monitoring server, which determines whether the location data is consistent with the plurality of pre-established parameters. An alert is transmitted to a mobile communication device upon determining the location data is not consistent with the plurality of pre-established parameters associated with that shoelace.

HIGH STRENGTH SMALL DIAMETER FISHING LINE

Elongated bodies made from high tenacity polyolefin fibers are provided that are useful as fishing lines, and processes for making the lines. Fibers having tenacities of at least 39 g/denier are braided and fused together to form braided bodies having very small diameters.

Fastener for garment drawstrings, laces, and the like

A fastener with one or more movable locking bands in a drawstring of sweatpants. The body of the fastener is made out of a material, such as highly dense polyurethane foam, that is strong, yet flexible, or of a rigid plastic, that is strong, yet flexible. The two strings to be fastened pass through one or more gripping and/or locking holes in the fastener body. When the shoelace is passed through the gripping and/or locking holes, the dense polyurethane foam grips the lace tightly. The free ends are pulled through one or more peripheral slits extending towards, but not all the way to, the gripping and/or locking holes and then bent against the upper outer surface of the disk and locked in place in the respective one or more peripheral locking slits. Flexible and/or rigid bands encircling over the fastener drawstrings further secure the drawstrings in a locked position.

Slip resistant shoelace

The present invention is for a slip resistant shoelace comprising a shoelace tube and one or more friction inducing features such as a plurality of beads placed inside the shoelace tube. The plurality of beads of the shoelace interlock with each other while in a knot and thus resist slipping of the knot in the slip resistant shoe lace. The interlocking occurs as one or more beads of the plurality of beads of one section of the slip resistant shoelace fit in space available between two consecutive beads of the plurality of beads of another section of the slip resistant shoelace which are passing over each other in the knot. The interlocking prevents the shoelace from getting loosened and untied inadvertently. The slip resistant shoelace can be tied and untied in the traditional manner.
