Process and apparatus for reduction in microbial growth in solutions of sugars extracted from waste materials
A process for reducing microbial growth in solutions of sugars extracted from waste materials, the process comprising monitoring indicators of microbial growth in the solution in situ and administering an antimicrobial; a sugar substrate obtained by concentrating a solution of sugar treated using the process; an apparatus for extracting sugars from waste materials, the apparatus comprising a reaction vessel (10), one or more sensors (15,20) for monitoring indicators of microbial growth in the reaction vessel, a software for analysing signals from the sensor and a source of antimicrobial.
Method for the classification of maple syrup
The present document describes a method for the detection of off-flavor maple syrup made from buddy maple sap or maple sap contaminated with buddy maple sap, or off-flavor maple sap. The method involves the measurement of a spectrophotometric property of a nanoparticle reactive with a buddy maple sample having a size of from about 1 nm to about 250 nm contacting a maple syrup or maple sap sample. A change in the spectrophotometric property is associated with an off-flavor maple syrup or maple sap sample, and no change in the spectrophotometric property is associated with a good flavor maple syrup or maple sap sample.
Method of increasing water soluble nutrient extraction from plant matter
Improved processes for extracting water soluble nutrients including sugars from plants and in particular sugar cane. The plants may be washed with a wash solution. After washing, water soluble nutrient containing liquid is extracted from the plants. A diluted wash solution may be added to the crushed plants to improve the extraction of the water soluble nutrients. The wash solution may be added to the liquid collected during the extraction to improve the separation of impurities from the nutrient containing liquid. The extracted liquid may demonstrate at least one of improved purity, improved clarity, improved filtration times, improved whiteness, and improved total recovered water soluble nutrients.

Method for the preparation of high test molasses
The invention relates to a method the preparation of an inverted sugar product, called high test molasses, using novel reaction parameters. More particularly it relates to the preparation of high-test molasses using an acid wherein the loss of sugar due to use of acid and high temperature as in conventional method is eliminated.
POLYPEPTIDES HAVING HYDROLYTIC ACTIVITY ON 1-KESTOSE IN THE PRESENCE OF SUCROSE BUT LACKING SUCRASE (INVERTASE) ACTIVITY, POLYNUCLEOTIDES ENCODING SAME AND METHODS OF PRODUCTING AND USING SAME IN INDUSTRIAL SUCROSE PRODUCTION FROM 1-KESTOSE
An industrial process using kestose hydrolases to enable the use of sugar mixtures containing 1-kestose in the industrial production of sucrose (as crystallized sugar) by providing a method for the conversion of 1-kestose into sucrose and fructose in a sugar solution, containing kestose and more than 10 mM sucrose (3 g/L), and comprising the enzymatic hydrolysis (preferably using 1-FEH enzymesEC 3.2.1.153) of 1-kestose. The process further provides a method of producing a polypeptide having 1-kestose hydrolase activity and a composition comprising the polypeptide.
Process for obtaining a sucrose-flavored additive
The invention for which the protection is requested consists of a procedure for extracting a flavoring without caloric value based on sugar cane concentrates of the intermediate honeys and molasses obtained from sugar extraction by the sugar mills, which is mixed with artificial high yield sweeteners, where said additive provides said high yield sweeteners with the flavor of sugar cane.

METHOD OF PRODUCING SUGAR LIQUID
A sugar liquid or solid sugar is derived from cellulose-containing biomass or blackstrap molasses, wherein content of one or more free amino acids selected from the group consisting of serine, threonine, asparagine, aspartic acid, glutamine, glutamic acid, proline, phenyl alanine, lysine, and histidine, which are impurities, is below the limit of detection.
