Solid agave syrup compositions
11098382 · 2021-08-24 · ·

The present invention relates to a agave syrup product having a low water content. The agave syrup product retains the physical and palatable properties of untreated agave syrup while having a prolonged shelf-life. It can be advantageously used to sweeten beverages (such as hot beverages) and in the manufacture of pharmaceutical compositions (such as throat lozenges) and/or confectionary.

The invention relates to a method for producing a fructose composition comprising the following successive stages: provision of an initial composition comprising glucose; concentration of the initial composition by evaporation of water to obtain a concentrated initial composition; isomerization of glucose to fructose from the concentrated initial composition, making it possible to obtain an intermediate composition; purification of the intermediate composition in a multicolumn chromatography system, making it possible to obtain a glucose-rich raffinate and a fructose-rich extract; concentration of the extract by evaporation of water; wherein the intermediate composition is not subjected to a concentration step by evaporation of water between the isomerization step and the purification step.

TOBACCO-DERIVED CELLULOSIC SUGAR

Methods of forming cellulosic sugars from the stalk or roots of a plant of the Nicotiana species are provided herein, the methods including i) receiving a tobacco material including at least one of a stalk material and a root material of a harvested plant of the Nicotiana species; ii) delignifying the tobacco material to form a tobacco-derived pulp; and iii) hydrolyzing the tobacco-derived pulp to form a hydrolyzed tobacco product including residual solids and a liquid including at least one tobacco-derived cellulosic sugar. A cellulosic sugar derived from hydrolyzed tobacco material including at least one of a tobacco stalk material and a tobacco root material of a harvested plant of the Nicotiana species is also provided herein. Tobacco products incorporating the cellulosic sugars derived from hydrolyzed tobacco material or products derived from the cellulosic sugar are also provided.
