A piercer plug with increased recyclability is provided. A piercer plug (1) has a chemical composition of, in mass %: 0.15 to 0.30% C; 0.4 to 1.2% Si; 0.2 to 1.5% Mn; 0.1 to 2.0% Ni; 0 to 4.0% Mo and 0 to 4.0% W, where the total content of Mo and W is 1.0 to 6.0%; higher than 1.0% and not higher than 4.0% Cr; 0 to 0.2% B; 0 to 1.0% Nb; 0 to 1.0% V; 0 to 1.0% Ti; and balance Fe and impurities, the plug including a tip portion (2) and a trunk portion (3) made of the same material as the tip portion (2) and contiguous to the tip portion (2). The trunk portion (3) includes a cylindrical portion (5) having a hole used to mount a bar. The tip portion (2) is harder than the cylindrical portion (5).

The present invention relates to a high manganese steel for low temperature applications and a method for manufacturing the same. The high manganese steel contains 0.3 wt % to 0.8 wt % of C, 18 wt % to 26 wt % of Mn, 0.01 wt % to 1 wt % of Si, 0.01 wt % to 0.5 wt % of Al, 0.1 wt % or less of Ti (excluding 0%), 1 wt % to 4.5 wt % of Cr, 0.1 wt % to 0.9 wt % of Cu, 0.03 wt % or less of S (excluding 0%), 0.3 wt % or less of P (excluding 0%), 0.001 wt % to 0.03 wt % of N, 0.004 wt % or less of B (excluding 0%), and a remainder of Fe and other inevitable impurities, wherein a microstructure comprises an austenite single phase structure, and an average grain size of the austenite is 50 m or less.

A method is for manufacturing a core plate having an annular core back and teeth extending from the core back toward the center. The core plate is obtained by performing a punching step, a winding step, a straining step and an annealing step. Absorption of hydrogen is minimized during heating necessary for hot forming. This is achieved at least in part through an alloy constituent of 0.1-0.5% by weight of at least one alkaline earth or transition metal in the protective coating, wherein an oxide of the alkaline earth or transition metal is formed on an outer surface of the protective coating during hot forming of the flat steel product.
