METHOD FOR RECOVERING VALUABLE METALS FROM SPENT LITHIUM-ION-BATTERIE
This invention is directed to a method for recovering valuable metals from spent lithium-ion-batteries using CO.sub.2/CO/H.sub.2O gas mixture, or reducing gas comprising CH.sub.4, or solid carbon or combination thereof.
Processing of laterite ores
This invention relates to a method for processing nickel laterite ore, including the steps of obtaining a mined laterite ore from a mining operation 42; and feeding the ore through a bulk sorter 44 comprising a sensor arrangement and a diverting mechanism that separates the ore into a beneficiated stream of nickel laterite ore 28 wherein the grade of nickel is higher than the grade of the ore fed into the bulk sorter for further processing 52 by leaching or smelting; one or more low grade fractions of ore 50 with a lower nickel grade than the beneficiated stream; and a waste fraction 46. This configuration efficiently separates lower grade patches in the run of mine ore, to either a low-grade stockpile or waste, and efficiently blends the selected high-grade ore to meet the specifications of the subsequent processing.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SOLUBILISING IN AN AQUEOUS MEDIUM ELEMENTS CONTAINED IN A SULFIDE ORE CONCENTRATE
This invention deals with a system using aqueous means for solubilizing chemical components contained in sulphur type ore concentrate which may contain iron, cobalt, niquel, copper, platinum group metals and other metals considered valuable and of commercial interest. Apart from that, a method using aqueous means for solubilizing such components is described.
PROCESS AND SYSTEM FOR EXTRACTION OF IRON OXIDE FROM ORE
A method and system of extracting iron oxide from ore is provided, which may include adding a chelating agent to an iron ore to form an iron ore and chelating agent solution, heating the solution to reflux in water, and filtering the solution to yield an extraction residue and a chelated iron solution. The chelated iron solution may be treated with a potassium hydroxide and water solution to yield iron hydroxide.

Provided is a method for producing lithium carbonate from lithium ion battery waste, the lithium ion battery waste including battery positive material components containing Li and at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Co, Ni and Mn, wherein, after subjecting the lithium ion battery waste to a wet process, thereby separating the at least one metal of the battery positive material components from the lithium ion battery waste to obtain crude lithium carbonate, the method includes: a dissolution step of dissolving the crude lithium carbonate in a liquid while feeding a carbon dioxide gas; and a decarbonization step of heating a lithium dissolved solution obtained in the dissolution step to release carbonic acid, and wherein when dissolving the crude lithium carbonate in the liquid in the dissolution step, the liquid is stirred in a reaction vessel using a stirrer, and a ratio of a diameter (d) of a stirring blade of the stirrer to an inner diameter (D) of the reaction vessel (d/D) is from 0.2 to 0.5.
METHOD FOR SEPARATING COPPER FROM NICKEL AND COBALT
Provided is a method for efficiently separating copper from nickel and cobalt from a sulfide containing nickel and cobalt together with copper. The present invention is a method for separating copper from nickel and cobalt, the method comprising pulverizing a sulfide containing copper and nickel and cobalt into a predetermined size and then stirring the resultant product under the condition having an oxidation-reduction potential (a reference electrode: a silver/silver chloride electrode) of less than 100 mV using an acid solution to perform a leaching treatment. In this separation method, a leach liquor in which nickel and cobalt are leached and a leach residue containing copper sulfate are produced as the result of the leaching treatment.
METHOD FOR SEPARATING COPPER, AND NICKEL AND COBALT
Provided is a method for separating copper from nickel and cobalt, which can efficiently and selectively separate copper from nickel and cobalt in a substance containing copper, nickel, and cobalt in a waste lithium ion battery, etc. In this method, a substance containing copper, nickel, and cobalt is sulfurated to obtain a sulfide, the obtained sulfide that contains copper, nickel, and cobalt is brought into contact with an acid solution to obtain a solid containing copper and a leachate containing nickel and cobalt. The sulfide preferably contains copper sulfide as a main component, and contains nickel metal and cobalt metal. In-addition, when bringing the sulfide into contact with the acid solution, the added amounts of the sulfide and the acid solution are preferably adjusted such that the oxidation-reduction potential of the obtained leachate is maintained at 150 mV or less where a silver/silver chloride electrode is a reference electrode.
