A hermetically sealed electronic package may include a thermal panel having a panel interior surface and a panel exterior surface with electronic device(s) in thermal communication with the panel interior surface. An enclosure, isolating environmental communication from internal electronic devices and modules, may be coupled to the thermal panel, and the enclosure may have an enclosure interior surface and an enclosure exterior surface. A plurality of electrical feedthroughs may be coupled to the package enclosure for signal and data transmission, and the conducting pin(s) in every electrical feedthrough may be bonded by a hydrophobic sealing material for harsh environmental electrical signal, data and power transmission. The ratio of sealing length over sealing bead diameter in the electrical feedthrough subassembly may have a preferred value from 2 to 3; and the ratio of the sealing bead diameter over pin diameter in the electrical feedthrough subassembly may have a preferred value from 1.5 to 2.0, where a preferred thermal stress resistance could be designed for making highly hermetic sealed electronic package.
CHANNELED HARDFACING WEAR PROTECTION INCORPORATING MATRIX COMPOSITE AND HARD ELEMENTS
Methods of making composite articles wherein at least a portion of a hardsurface wear protection applied to a composite article includes matrix composite and hard elements with channels between the hard elements. A layered preform coating mat may be applied over a substrate of the composite article and then fused thereto to form channels between hard elements in the coating mat. The channels may extend over the entire outer surface of the composite article or only over a portion thereof. A hybrid layered preform coating mat may include a depressed section adapted for receiving a perforated braze preform inlay. When the coating mat is fused to the substrate, channels may be formed between the hard elements in the depressed section, but not in a non-depressed section.

According to one aspect, the present disclosure provides a system for manufacturing transition structures including fiber threads embedded within a metal component. The system may include a supply of base sheet metal. The system may include a conveyor supported on a plurality of rollers and configured to move the base sheet metal in a production direction. The system may include a plurality of stages arranged in the production direction. Each stage may include a channel forming device configured to form a channel in the base sheet metal, a fiber inserting device configured to insert a portion of a fiber material into the channel, and one or more ultrasonic welders configured to consolidate a layer of metal foil over the fiber. The disclosure includes methods of using the system to produce transition structures and reinforced components.
