Anode assembly for cathodic protection of offshore steel piles
The anode assembly for cathodic protection of offshore steel piles provides stability and protection for a sacrificial anode used in the cathodic protection of offshore steel piles, particularly in regard to the challenges presented in positioning the anode in a submerged, underwater environment. The anode assembly for cathodic protection of offshore steel piles includes a conventional sacrificial anode received within a protective housing. The housing is supported underwater by a support cable. A weight is fixed to the lower end of the support cable to anchor the lower end of the support cable on an underwater surface of a body of water when the housing and the sacrificial anode are suspended in the body of water. The upper end of the support cable is secured to an external support such that the housing and the sacrificial anode are suspended therefrom in a desired underwater position.
TWO-STEP SEALING OF ANODIZED ALUMINUM COATINGS
A method includes providing a workpiece with at least one surface having an anodized aluminum coating and a trivalent chromium sealant. The at least one surface of the workpiece is submerged in a post-treatment sealant solution for 0.5 to 20 minutes. The sealant composition consists essentially of a corrosion inhibitor formulation, a water soluble polymer, an organic complexing agent, and an oxidant. The corrosion inhibitor formulation is formulated from at least one anodic corrosion inhibitor compound, at least one cathodic corrosion inhibitor compound, or a combination thereof. A concentration of each of the corrosion inhibitor formulation, the water soluble polymer, the organic complexing agent, and the oxidant is each in a range of 1-50 mM.
Electrodeposition system and method incorporating an anode having a back side capacitive element
Disclosed are an electrodeposition system and method with an anode assembly comprising a capacitor comprising a first conductive plate (i.e., an anode) with a frontside having a surface exposed to a plating solution, a second conductive plate on a backside of the first conductive plate, and a dielectric layer between the two conductive plates. During a non-plating mode, a power source, having positive and negative terminals connected to the first and second conductive plates, respectively, is turned on, thereby polarizing the first conductive plate (i.e., the anode) relative to the second conductive plate to prevent degradation of the anode and/or plating solution. During an active plating mode, another power source, having positive and negative terminals connected to the first conductive plate (i.e., the anode) and a cathode, respectively, is turned on, thereby polarizing the anode relative to the cathode in order to deposit a plated layer on a workpiece.
Cerium citrate, method of making and corrosion inhibitor comprising cerium citrate
A method of making cerium citrate includes combining cerium carbonate and citric acid to produce cerium citrate and carbon dioxide. The cerium citrate is substantially free of negative ions other than citrate. The cerium citrate can be used in a corrosion inhibitor composition.
CORROSION INHIBITING ADDITIVE
A corrosion resistant article including an aluminum substrate and a corrosion-inhibiting cerium based corrosion inhibitor corrosion inhibiting additive on the aluminum substrate, the corrosion inhibiting additive comprising an anodic corrosion inhibitor and a cathodic corrosion inhibitor, the anodic corrosion inhibitor greater than 25 wt % of the total inhibitor.
A METHOD OF INSTALLING AN UNBONDED FLEXIBLE PIPE
The present invention relates to a method of installing an unbonded flexible pipe with a bore for transportation of fluid wherein the unbonded flexible pipe comprises an outer sheath, an inner sealing sheath inside the outer polymer sheath, an annulus between said outer sheath and said inner sealing sheath and at least one metallic armor layer comprising iron located in said annulus, wherein the method comprises filling at least a part of the annulus with a corrosion promoting liquid before or after installing the unbonded flexible pipe between a first installation and a second installation.
Linear faraday induction generator for the generation of electrical power from ocean wave kinetic energy and arrangements thereof
An electrolysis cell includes an anode that has a low-density region formed from activated carbon and a high-density region formed from a plurality of graphite cylinders. There is a porous barrier that allows transport of water between the anode and a corrosion resistant cathode.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING A WATER HEATER HAVING A POWERED ANODE
A gas-fired appliance includes a tank configured to store a fluid to be heated, a powered anode extending into the tank and configured to generate an electric anode current, and a combustion chamber including a burner configured to generate products of combustion. The appliance also includes an exhaust structure, a heat exchanger, and an electronic processor coupled to the powered anode. The products of combustion flow from the combustion chamber to the exhaust structure via the heat exchanger. The electronic processor is configured to determine a duty cycle of the burner, determine whether the duty cycle of the burner exceeds a predetermined threshold, increase a magnitude of a protection parameter of the powered anode from a first value to a second value when the duty cycle of the burner exceeds the predetermined threshold, and control the powered anode according to the second value of the protection parameter.
