The present invention provides a water-repellent woven or knitted article that overcomes the problems of the related art and exhibits water-repellent properties and is excellent in abrasion resistance and durability. The water-repellent woven or knitted article of the present invention is a woven or knitted article subjected to a water repellent treatment using a water repellent having a perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) concentration of 5 ng/g or less, wherein the woven or knitted article includes, as constituent fibers, fibers having a transverse cross-sectional shape, each fiber has a plurality of grooves at an outer circumference of the transverse cross section, each groove has a wide part, and a size of the grooves in the fibers satisfies the following Formulae (Formula 1) and (Formula 2):

w2/w1≥1.3  (Formula 1)

0.15≤h/d≤0.25  (Formula 2) where w1 represents a groove entrance width, w2 represents a groove wide part width, h represents a groove depth, and d represents a diameter of the fiber, a droplet contact angle between the woven or knitted article and water is 135° or more after 20 times of washing in accordance with a method of JIS L 0217 103 and a water repellency is grade 4 or more in accordance with a spray method of JIS L 1092.

Woven Fabric, Method for Producing Same, and Fiber Product Containing Said Woven Fabric

Provided are: a woven fabric which exhibits appropriate stretching properties and good anti-fraying performance by being configured so that some intersecting portions of a warp and a weft that constitute the woven fabric are constituted from only a bare yarn of an elastic polyurethane yarn; and a garment or the like obtained using the woven fabric. The present invention relates to: a woven fabric which is constituted from a bare yarn (A yarn) of an elastic polyurethane yarn, and a non-elastic yarn or a composite yarn (B yarn) of a non-elastic yarn and an elastic polyurethane yarn, and which is characterized in that at an intersecting portion of a warp and a weft, a specific region is present where the warp and the weft are both the A yarn, the warp and the weft are bonded or melt bonded to each other in this specific region, and the ratio of the number of intersections between A yarns of warp and weft in the specific region relative to the total number of intersections between warp and weft in the entire structure of the woven fabric is 0.02-50%; a method for producing same; and a fiber product containing the woven fabric.

Fabric items with locally thinned fabric

An item such as a fabric-based item may have a layer of fabric such as a layer of woven fabric. The fabric layer may include insulating warp and weft strands. Conductive strands may be woven into the fabric layer and may form electrodes for a touch sensor. Chemical etching or other processing techniques may be used to form an array of openings. In each opening, some or all of the insulating warp and weft strands may be removed so that each opening passes partly or fully through the fabric layer and locally thins the fabric layer. Keys may be formed from key members and switches. The key members may overlap respective locally thinned areas of the fabric layer formed from the openings. The conductive strands may extend across the openings and may be overlapped by the key members and switches.

Wrappable end fray resistant woven protective textile sleeve and method of construction thereof

An end fray resistant textile sleeve includes an elongate wall having warp yarns extending generally parallel to a longitudinal central axis of the sleeve and fill yarns extending circumferentially about the sleeve. The warp yarns include at least two different types of yarns, with one of the types of warp yarns including activateable yarns and another of the types of yarns including non-activateable yarns. The activateable yarns can be provided as being activateable by at least one of heat, fluid and/or pressure, such that upon being activated, the yarns are caused to bond with the adjacent non-activateable warp yarns, as well as with the weft yarns with which they make contact. As such, the activateable yarns, upon being activated, become fixed with abutting warp yarns and weft yarns, thereby inhibiting end fray from resulting during a subsequent cold-cutting operation as well as in use.
