Anti-Static Fleece, Brushed Fabric and Composite Yarn for Their Manufacture
20170314168 · 2017-11-02 ·

An anti-static fleece or brushed fabric consisting essentially of acrylic fiber, polyester fiber, cotton fiber, wool fiber, nylon fiber or combinations of 2 or more thereof, characterized in that the fleece or brushed fabric has a basis weight of from 65 gsm to 400 gsm, contains from 0.1 wt % to 2 wt % of bicomponent anti-static fiber and is further characterized in that the fleece or brushed fabric exhibits a static decay time of less than 4 seconds The woven or knit fleece or brushed fabric has permanent anti-static properties which do not wash out during laundering. A preferred yarn for making the fleece or brushed fabric is a composite anti-static filamentary yarn comprising anti-static bicomponent filament wrapped with non-conductive filament in a weight ratio of non-conductive filament:anti-static bicomponent filament of from 2:1 to 8:1.

A fabric for use in arc and flame protection, and a process for producing a fire resistant fabric are provided. The fabric is comprised of at least 70 weight percent (wt%) aramid fiber; less than 40 wt% modacrylic; 8 wt% nylon; and 2 wt% anti-static. The process comprises shredding recycled fire resistant garments into fibers; creating yarn from the shredded fibers; weaving the yarn into fabric; and knitting the yarn to produce new garments. The fabric may be used to produce fire-resistant garments worn by workers in many industries such as the oil and gas.

A woven fabric for an air bag characterized by the asymmetry (R), in the front and back of the woven fabric and indicated by the following formula, of the radius of curvature (φof an intersecting section in which the warp thread and the weft thread come in contact in the cross section of the woven fabric, being in the range of 1.05-1,50, R=φa/φb (φa indicates the larger radius of curvature out of the radii of curvature (φ) in the front and back surfaces of the woven fabric, and φb indicates the smaller radius of curvature).

Woven fabric

Provided is a woven fabric which is suitable for use as a covering fabric for down garments, down jackets, bedclothes, sleeping bags, etc. The woven fabric is lightweight and thin, has a high tear strength, and can retain low air permeability even after laundering. The woven fabric is constituted of synthetic multifilament yarns. The woven fabric is characterized in that at least one side thereof has been calendered and the monofilaments in at least part of the synthetic multifilament yarns have been thereby compressed in a stacked state. The woven fabric is further characterized in that the monofilaments are fibers having an unusual cross-section, the degree of unusualness of the cross section as determined before calendering being 2.0-6.0, that the synthetic multifilament yarns have a fineness of 7-44 dtex, and that the woven fabric has a cover factor of 1,300-2,200.
