Hygro yarns for use in making fabrics
A process is described wherein pile yarn is woven with cotton weft and warp yarns to produce terry fabrics, such as towels. The fabric is then washed in warm water to dissolve the PVA fiber. The amount of fibers dissolved, depends upon the count of the yarn or yarns used. By dissolving the PVA fibers, a hollow air space is produced throughout the pile yarn, corresponding to an increase in the air space in the pile yarn. By increasing the in space in the pile yarn, the resulting towels are softer and bulkier than standard cotton towels. The present invention further relates to pile yarn in terry woven fabric (warp yarn), or weft yarn, in the case of flat fabrics.

METHOD AND MACHINE FOR TREATING TEXTILE FABRICS WITH AN ADJUSTABLE AIR FLOW
A machine for treating a fabric (T) with air, comprises a tunnel (10) for pneumatically transporting the fabric and means for injecting the air into the tunnel above and/or below the fabric and comprising at least one diverting valve (16;18) located substantially half way along the tunnel and having two channels (16a,16b;18a,18b) which are oriented to direct the air flow entering the tunnel in one direction or the other. The valve comprises an adjustable baffle (17;19) adapted to shut off access to the channels (16a,16b;18a,18b) either wholly or partly. In the treatment method of the invention, the air flow (F;F) entering the tunnel is divided into two unequal components (F.sub.1, F.sub.2; F.sub.1, F.sub.2) directed towards opposite ends of the tunnel.

Device and method for treating (softening) continuously conveyed material
A device for treating a continuously conveyed thread group in order to produce tire cord has a roller pair for locally softening the thread group, wherein each roller (3, 4) is provided with a toothing formation. When the thread group is guided through between the rollers (3, 4), it is deformed by the mechanical loading of the teeth. The rollers (3, 4) can be driven in a separate manner directly or indirectly by way of actuable electric motors, as a result of which the gap spacings (A) and (B) can be set precisely identically. The axle spacing (C) of the two rollers (3, 4) can be set depending on the fabric thickness and the fabric type.
Device and method for treating (softening) continuously conveyed material
A device for treating a continuously conveyed thread group in order to produce tire cord has a roller pair for locally softening the thread group, wherein each roller (3, 4) is provided with a toothing formation. When the thread group is guided through between the rollers (3, 4), it is deformed by the mechanical loading of the teeth.
