Clothes dryer

A clothes dryer comprises a body, a first drying container installed in the body and configured to include a rotary drum configured to be rotatable, and a second drying container installed in the body but separated from the first drying container, and the second drying container includes an electrode plate configured to include a plurality of electrode regions, a controller configured to select an electrode region where an electric field is to be applied, among the plurality of electrode regions and an electric field is applied to the electrode region selected by the controller.

Washing machine and control method therefor

A washing machine and a control method therefor are disclosed. The washing machine according to the present invention comprises: a drum for receiving laundry; a drying unit for adjusting the temperature of air in the drum so as to dry the laundry; a filter unit for filtering lint generated from the laundry; a cleaning unit for cleaning the filter unit; and a control unit for controlling the cleaning unit such that the filter unit is periodically cleaned during rotation of the drum. Accordingly, the washing machine can reduce the amount of lint generated from laundry during a drying process. Further, the washing machine according to the disclosure periodically cleans a filter for filtering lint generated from laundry, so as to facilitate circulation of air in the drum during a drying process, thereby improving the drying efficiency.

Control method and washing machine

A computer is used to obtain arrival time required for a user of a washing machine to arrive at an installation position of the washing machine based on a position of the user and the installation position, and when it is determined that the washing machine is performing washing based on operation information of the washing machine, when the arrival time is longer than washing completion time required for the washing machine to complete washing, to transmit instruction infomiation for adding a process of soaking laundry in water by the washing machine or for changing time in the process to the washing machine.

Dryer appliance having a fire extinguishing system equipped with a nozzle and breakaway cap

A dryer appliance that includes a fire extinguishing system is provided. In one aspect, the dryer appliance includes a drum rotatably mounted within a cabinet. The drum defines a chamber for receipt of articles for drying. The dryer appliance includes a water inlet valve in fluid communication with a nozzle to which a breakaway cap is mounted. The breakaway cap defines a steam outlet and the nozzle defines an extinguisher outlet. When a fire is present in the dryer appliance the water inlet valve is controlled to allow water to flow downstream to the nozzle so that the breakaway cap breaks away from the nozzle and water flows through the extinguisher outlet into the chamber of the drum to extinguish the fire.

A washing machine appliance includes a wash tub defining a wash chamber, a wash basket rotatably mounted within the wash tub, and a camera mounted within the cabinet in view of the wash chamber. A controller is operably coupled to the camera for obtaining images of the load of clothes in the wash chamber and analyzing the images using a neural network image recognition process (such as a Mask R-CNN process) to determine a load characteristic of the load of clothes. The load characteristic can then be used to adjust at least one operating parameter of the washing machine appliance based on the load characteristic, e.g., for improved or optimized wash performance.

ADDITIVE DISPENSER FOR VARYING THE TYPES OF ADDITIVES WITHIN A WASHING MACHINE APPLIANCE

A washing machine appliance as provided herein, may include a cabinet, a tub, a fluid additive dispenser, and a controller. The tub may be disposed within the cabinet. The fluid additive dispenser may include a housing, a dispenser drawer, a water supply conduit, a conduit water valve, and an optical sensor. The optical sensor may be mounted to a housing and directed at a pod compartment. The controller may be operably coupled to the fluid additive dispenser and may be configured to initiate a washing operation. The washing operation may include receiving an image signal from the optical sensor, determining a pod characteristic within the pod compartment based on the received image signal, and directing water to the pod compartment based on the determined pod characteristic.
