FACILITATING THE ASSEMBLY OF GOODS BY TEMPORARILY ALTERING ATTRIBUTES OF FLEXIBLE COMPONENT MATERIALS
20190234010 · 2019-08-01 ·

The invention aims to improve the manufacture of flexible goods, such as garments, through the temporary modification of the physical properties of the components to be assembled, facilitating their handling and manipulation later on in the manufacturing process. Attributes that can be affected by this process are the stiffness of the material, the presence of mechanical or physical markings, the density of the material, the air or fluid permeability of the material, the responsiveness of the material to magnetic fields, or the adhesive nature of the material.

The present invention discloses a system and method for printing a registered image on a wet wipe. The system includes a printing apparatus having a plurality of ink reservoirs configured to print a plurality of graphics on a fabric. At least one optical sensor is configured to sense the plurality of graphics and one or more perforating components form a plurality of perforations along a length of the fabric. One or more cutting components configured to form a plurality of cuts along a length of the fabric. A packaging apparatus packages the printed material.

Fabric realignment using the Z-plasty technique

A method of altering clothing for a more aesthetic fit comprises the application of the Z-plasty surgical technique to clothing. The fabric is marked at the desired point of realignment with a Z pattern. The fabric is then cut along the marked Z creating two opposing triangular flaps. The flaps are pulled into their new position, with the angles from the center leg of the Z rotating to meet the angles of the upper and lower legs of the Z. The flaps are then stitched into place in the new position, completing the alteration and resulting in a more pleasing fit.

CELLULOSE ACETATE TOW BANDS AND FILTERS WITH SURFACE MARKINGS

Disclosed are acetate tow bands comprising identification fibers made of cellulose acetate which exhibit surface markings in a repeated pattern along the length of the identification fibers. The identification fibers can be incorporated into an acetate tow band. The surface markings and repeated pattern can be representative of a bale identifier. The identification fibers can be recovered from a cigarette filter, the repeated pattern decoded, and supply chain information associated with the acetate tow band used to make the cigarette filter can be obtained.

Marking of fabric carrying case for a portable electronic device

Techniques or processes for providing markings on fabric articles are disclosed. In one embodiment, the articles may be fabric carrying cases for electronic devices. For example, a fabric carrying case for a particular electronic may include a fabric base layer and a plurality of thick films coupled to the fabric base layer, wherein the plurality of thick films may comprise a top thick film and an underlying thick film. Regions of the top thick film may be selectively etched through, for selectively exposing the underlying thick film. The selectively etched regions may be arranged for marking of textual or graphical indicia on the fabric carrying case for the portable electronic device.
