Quilting template
09617682 · 2017-04-11 · ·

A template, such as a quilting template, is configured as a relatively thin piece of material having a first circular portion disposed at a first end of the template and a second circular portion disposed at a second end of the template. The template further includes a concave curve portion disposed between the first end and the second end along a first side edge of the template, a linear curve portion disposed between the first end and the second end along a second side edge of the template, and a set of guide markings. In use, a user can utilize the template to cut, for example, heart-shaped, flower-shaped, or leave-shaped elements, from a piece of material. With such a configuration, the template allows the user to cut a variety of differently sized and shaped elements directly from the material, without requiring the creation of multiple patterns.

Pi-shaped preform with bias fibers

A woven preform for a reinforced composite material, which may be woven flat and folded into shape. The preform has off-axis reinforcement with one or more legs and/or base extending in an off axis or bias (non 0/90 degree) orientation with respect to the warp/weft fibers. One or more legs extend from a base, the base and legs each having at least two layers of warp fibers. The legs may be parallel or angled to each other. The outer ends of the base and/or the legs may have tapers formed from terminating layers of warp fibers in a stepped or angled pattern.

A curtain cutting aid includes a curtain holder including an insertion space, an insertion slot in communication with the insertion space and a positioning portion disposed between the insertion space and the insertion slot, and a positioning unit including a movable bar inserted through the insertion slot into the insertion space and provided with spaced positioning grooves and an operating knob mounted in the curtain holder and coupled with the movable bar and movable between an initial position where one positioning groove of the movable bar is engaged with the positioning portion of the curtain holder to lock the movable bar in the insertion space, and a pressed position where the positioning groove of the movable bar is disengaged from the positioning portion of the curtain holder for allowing adjustment of the position of the movable bar according to the size of the curtain to be cut.

Method and system for automatic cutting of defective portions in a patterned fabric

A method and system for automatic cutting of defective parts in a fabric with a pattern repeating at a certain pitch, includes the steps of producing a theoretical layout of parts to be cut on a theoretical representation of the fabric whilst respecting layout constraints, spreading out at least one layer of fabric on a cutting table, checking at least one portion of the spread-out fabric to ascertain actual features, modifying the theoretical layout in order to generate an actual layout taking into account the actual features of the fabric, identifying in the actual layout, defective parts which will contain defects once cut in the fabric and which will need to be cut again, and automatically allocating each defective part to a new theoretical layout by adjusting the layout constraints associated with the defective parts according to the actual layout.
