ULTI-PART THERMOPLASTIC POLYMERS
20170066200 · 2017-03-09 ·

Methods of making fiber reinforced composite articles are described. The methods may include the step of providing a pre-impregnated fiber-containing thermoplastic material to a mold for the article. The pre-impregnated fiber-containing thermoplastic material may include: (i) a plurality of fibers, and (ii) a first thermoplastic polymer made from a first reactive thermoplastic resin. Reactants of a second reactive thermoplastic resin may be introduced to fill open spaces in the mold that are left by the pre-impregnated fiber-containing thermoplastic material. The second reactive thermoplastic resin may then be polymerized to form a second thermoplastic polymer. The final fiber reinforced composite article includes at least two spatially distinct regions of thermoplastic polymer.

Disclosed is a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) material including rare earth phosphate ceramic fibers embedded in a ceramic matrix, wherein the ceramic matrix also optionally includes a rare earth phosphate material. Methods for manufacturing the CMC material and gas turbine engine components formed of the CMC material are also disclosed.

Aerogel Composite

An aerogel composite has excellent thermal stability and flame retardancy even when exposed to a high-temperature environment for a long period of time.

DISSOLVABLE GLASS FIBRES FOR WOOD PRESERVATIVES AND DEGRADABLE COMPOSITE MATERIALS

A fibre structure formed from dissolvable glass fibres is provided, the dissolvable glass fibres being formed from one or more boron compounds and one or more alkali compounds. The dissolvable glass can be formed into filaments, rovings and staple fibres of varying composition, length and diameter dependent on functionality and purpose. A mixture of chemicals components are heated, melted and then drawn or extruded into dissolvable filaments, rovings and staple fibres for use in a fibre-reinforced composite part or as a preservative in the internal and surface treatment of solid wood and engineered composite panels. A water-soluble surface coating may be applied to adjust dissolution rate and facilitate binding into an air-laid nonwoven mat or incorporation into other matrices.

AIR-FILTER FILTER MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING FILTER MATERIAL

A method for producing an air-filter filter material according to the present disclosure includes: an adhesion step of adhering a polyvinyl alcohol aqueous solution to a support, having fluid permeability, and bringing the support into a wet state; and a drying step of drying the polyvinyl alcohol aqueous solution adhered to the support in a wet state at 140 C. or higher; in the method, the polyvinyl alcohol aqueous solution contains a cationic surfactant and a water repellent and is free of binder resins other than polyvinyl alcohol, and pores, serving as fluid permeation paths, of the support is, by the polyvinyl alcohol aqueous solution being dried after completion of the drying step, equipped with a mesh-like network of polyvinyl alcohol.
