20240141586 · 2024-05-02 ·

A rope system for system level recoil control and method for providing a rope system for system level recoil control are provided. The rope system includes a first rope component and a second component, and the second rope component is connected in series to the first rope component. The first rope component includes a first rope subcomponent and a second rope subcomponent, the first rope subcomponent has predetermined failure strength and is designed and configured to be a controlled failure point for the system, and the second rope subcomponent has a predetermined elongation capability. Upon failure of the first rope subcomponent, the second rope subcomponent is configured to elongate to absorb a predetermined amount of a predetermined operational strain energy of the rope system and to stretch over a predetermined distance and/or predetermined period of time before the second rope subcomponent fails.

An elevator belt includes a plurality of tension members arranged along a belt width and extending longitudinally along a length of the belt. Each tension member includes a core member formed from a composite material, and a plurality of second fibers to enhance temperature resistance of the tension member. A jacket material encapsulates the tension members. An elevator system includes a hoistway, an elevator car located in the hoistway and movable therein and a belt operably connected to the elevator car to suspend and/or drive the elevator car along the hoistway. The belt includes a plurality of tension members arranged along a belt width and extending longitudinally along a length of the belt. Each tension member includes a core member formed from a composite material, and plurality of second fibers to enhance temperature resistance of the tension member. A jacket material at least partially encapsulates the tension members.

Steel wire rope, coated steel wire rope and belt comprising steel wire rope

A steel wire rope is presented for use in elevators and lifting applications. The steel wire rope contains a core surrounded by multiple strands. The outer filaments of the core and the outer filaments of the strands are likely to contact one another during use. The outer steel filaments of the core have an average Vickers hardness that is at least 50 Vickers hardness numbers lower than that of the outer filaments of the strands. As the hardness of the outer filaments of the core is substantially lower than that of the outer filaments of the strands, those softer filaments will preferentially abrade away during use. In this way the core is sacrificed while preserving the integrity of the outer filaments of the strands. The use of this sacrificial core results in a higher residual breaking load after use.

REINFORCEMENT WIRE

A composite wire has a thermoplastic core component and a sheath. The sheath includes at least two groups of reinforcement threads wrapped around the core component. The at least two groups of reinforcement threads form angles with the core component, with the overall sum of all angles which are essentially zero.

RUNNING WIRE ROPE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME

A wire rope formed from a resin core and six strands, the resin core having an inner core with a circular cross section and an outer layer built up on the periphery thereof. The outer layer has a melting temperature lower than that of the inner core. The six strands are twisted together helically on the periphery of the resin core in an intertwining die in such a state that gaps are assured between the strands. The resulting wire rope is heated in a heating unit at a temperature higher than the melting temperature of the outer layer but lower than the melting temperature of the inner core. The wire rope is formed by subsequently compressing the six strands from the periphery thereof in a compressing die. The molten outer layer is hardened by natural cooling, after which the wire rope is taken up.

A security device has a flexible strap (26) with a lock unit (28) attached at each end. The strap (26) comprises a plurality of longitudinally extending multi-filament cables or ropes (2) arranged in a substantially planar array embedded in an elastomeric material (4). The cables or ropes (2) have a coating of primer for creating a bond with the elastomeric material (4). The primer may be restricted to the external surface of the cables or ropes (2), or some of the surfaces of the filaments may be free of primer. This facilitates relative movement of the filaments during flexure or compression of the strap (26). Moreover, an extrusion process for manufacturing the strap (26) including a priming station (12) is disclosed.

Device to Provide Protection of a Structural Member Against a Cutting Threat
