YARN MANUFACTURING
A process for manufacturing a yarn includes twisting the yarn in a first direction for a predefined number of twists. The method also includes, after the predefined number of twists, twisting the yarn in a second direction for a predefined number of twists, the predefined number of twists for the second yarn is same as the predefined number of twists for the first yarn. The twisting of the yarn in the second direction creates an air bed within the yarn's fibers.
Nonwoven fabric structure and method for producing the same
Provided is a nonwoven fabric structure containing an odd-shaped fiber. The odd-shaped fiber has bubbles inside and has a cross-sectional shape that is an irregular, non-circular cross-section. Further, it is preferable that the cross-sectional shape of the odd-shaped fiber changes in the fiber length direction, the odd-shaped fiber has a crystallinity of 40% or less, and the odd-shaped fiber is made of at least two kinds of thermoplastic resins. It is also preferable that that the nonwoven fabric structure contains a heat fusible fiber, the odd-shaped fiber is present in the form of a net-like fiber sheet, and the odd-shaped fiber is in the form of short fibers. In addition, a method for producing such a nonwoven fabric structure is a method in which a thermoplastic resin containing a foaming agent is extruded through a slit die to give an odd-shaped fiber having bubbles inside, followed by three-dimensional shaping.
LYOCELL MATERIAL FOR TABACCO FILTER
A lyocell material for a cigarette filter and a method of manufacturing the same are disclose. The lyocell material which is biodegradable and eco-friendly can be manufactured by crimping lyocell multifilaments to obtain a crimped tow.
TOWEL FABRIC AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
A fabric has first material yarns and second material yarns woven together to form a ground, The first material yarns are synthetic yarns, and the second material yarns are cotton pile yarns. A coloring process is performed which colors the second material yarns, but which does not take to the first material yarns. A second coloring or printing process is performed on the technical front.
OLEOPHOBIC COATINGS AND WIPES AND APPLICATORS USED TO PRODUCE THEM
Certain embodiments described herein are directed to wipes and coating materials that can be used to provide an oleophobic surface coating on one or more surfaces of an article. In some examples, the wipe may retain the coating material and can transfer at least some of the coating material to a surface where it can be heat cured to provide the oleophobic coating. In some instances, the wipe can provide an oleophobic surface coating with easy-to-clean performance for at least one cycle and up to ten cycles.
Lyocell material for tobacco filter and method for preparing same
This invention relates to a lyocell material for a cigarette filter and a method of manufacturing the same, wherein the lyocell material which is biodegradable and eco-friendly can be manufactured by crimping lyocell multifilaments to thus obtain a crimped tow.
FLEXIBLE SELF-POWERED MATERIALS FOR ON DEMAND GENERATION OF HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
Disclosed are materials/systems and methods that are selective for the formation of hydrogen peroxide (H.sub.2O.sub.2) via an electrochemical reaction. The materials/systems comprise a substrate and at least one pair of electrodes positioned on or within the substrate, wherein each pair of electrodes comprises an anode and a cathode. At least one of the anode and the cathode comprise a catalyst that can form hydrogen peroxide (H.sub.2O.sub.2). The catalyst can comprise a nanoporous Cu catalyst.
Economical fire barrier nonwoven or fabric material with antimicrobial properties
Provided herein is a new fire barrier material composed of flame retardant (FR) cellulosic fiber(s) and one or more of an antimicrobial (AM) cellulosic fiber and an untreated cellulosic fiber(s). The fire barrier material may be a fabric woven or knitted from the yarn containing the FR cellulosic fiber(s) and the one or more of AM cellulosic fibers and untreated cellulosic fibers. When AM cellulosic fibers are combined with FR treated cellulosic fibers, the fire barrier material has the dual features of flame retardancy and antimicrobial properties. The fire barrier material may also be a nonwoven, and in preferred embodiments optionally includes a binder fiber. The FR cellulosic fiber contains FR chemical(s) or FR compound(s) that have a melting point or decomposition temperature at 400 C. (752 F.) or below. The FR performance of the new nonwoven provided herein is comparable to the conventional FR nonwoven (FR cellulosic fiber/binder fiber), but has advantages in cost effectiveness, as well as antimicrobial properties.
SEATING STRUCTURE HAVING A KNITTED SUSPENSION MATERIAL
An article of furniture includes a frame defining an opening, and a suspension material spanning over the opening and having a weft knit construction. The suspension material is configured to support a user, and the suspension material includes at least one multifilament forming a jersey knit structure which has a plurality of courses extending in a course direction and a plurality of wales extending in a wale direction, and at least one monofilament corresponding to and being inlaid in a respective one of the courses. The suspension material has, in the course direction, a ratio of machine gauge, in needles per mm, to course stiffness, in N per mm, between 0.02 and 0.2 and has, in the wale direction, a ratio of machine gauge, in needles per mm, to wale stiffness, in N per mm, between 0.07 and 1.4.
NONWOVEN MATERIAL, USE OF THE NONWOVEN MATERIAL, AND WIPING CLOTH, DRYER SHEET AND FACE MASK CONTAINING THE NONWOVEN MATERIAL
The invention relates to a nonwoven as well as to a wipe, a face mask, and a dryer sheet including the nonwoven, which includes a network of molded bodies, the nonwoven, in the dry state, having a specific opacity of greater than or equal to 1.0%.Math.m.sup.2/g. In order to create a nonwoven of low basis weight, which is easy to produce and has, without special modifications, a high specific opacity, it is proposed that the molded bodies are regenerated cellulosic molded bodies and are materially interconnected via node points to form the network, and the regenerated cellulosic molded bodies comprising monofilament sections extending between node points, whose diameter varies along their lengthwise extension and which have a diameter of less than or equal to 15 m for at least 90% of their lengthwise extension.
