CONTINUOUS BORON NITRIDE NANOTUBE YARNS AND METHODS OF PRODUCTION

A method and apparatus for producing boron nitride nanotubes and continuous boron nitride nanotube yarn or tapes is provided. The apparatus includes rotating reaction tubes that allow for continuous chemical vapor deposition of boron nitride nanotubes. The rotation of the reaction tubes allows the boron nitride nanotubes to be spun into yarns or made into tapes, without post process or external rotation or spinning of the gathered nanotubes. Boron nitride nanotube yarns or tapes of great length can be produced as a result, thereby providing industry with a readily useable format for this type of material. Dopants such as carbon can be added to engineer the band gap of the nanotubes. Catalysts may be formed outside or inside the reactor.

SYSTEM FOR MANUFACTURE OF BULLETPROOF COMPONENTS, SHEETS, AND GARMENTS WITH HIGH MODULUS STRONG FIBERS HELD IN A POLYAMIDE MATRIX
20200255993 · 2020-08-13 ·

A bulletproof garment fabric comprises parallel high strength fibers that are placed in layers. The layers are arranged in multiple orientations to resist bullet penetration stress and bonded to each other by precipitated ultrafine particles of nylon. The bonded high strength fibers resist the penetration load of a bullet and are thereby operative to prevent penetration of the bullet through the garment fabric. A porous nylon sheet is injection molded, and combined with strong fibrous materials having high modulus to form a layered sandwich that imparts strength and anti-ballistic properties to jackets, components and armor for vehicles and aircraft used in military applications.

Elastic band

An elastic band contains: multiple warps, multiple latex yarns, and plural latex threads which are interweaved so as to produce the elastic band. The multiple warps include a plurality of cloth layers formed on side surfaces and bottoms of the multiple warps respectively, and the multiple warps include multiple elastic layers arranged among the plurality of cloth layers individually. The multiple elastic layers are interweaved by the multiple warps, the multiple latex yarns, and plural latex threads. A sewing machine includes multiple frames and multiple steel buckles so that the multiple warps are inserted through multiple frames repeatedly, and the multiple warps, the multiple latex yarns and the plural latex threads are inserted through the multiple steel buckles repeatedly so as to produce the elastic band.

Lacrosse head pocket and related method of manufacture

A lacrosse head pocket and a related method of manufacture are provided to facilitate consistent, repeatable and/or custom manufacture of lacrosse equipment. The pocket can be knitted, weaved or otherwise assembled on an automated assembly machine from strands, and/or can be formed as a unitary textile material having regions/sections with different physical and/or mechanical properties. The pocket can be integrally molded within portions of a lacrosse head to eliminate manually constructed connections between the pocket and lacrosse head. The pocket can include a perimeter flange constructed from special materials and/or a perimeter flange including intermittent voids along an outer edge so that the perimeter flange stretches when the pocket is in a loaded state with the lacrosse ball therein, thereby providing dampening to the pocket when a lacrosse ball exerts force upon the pocket in the loaded state.

Lacrosse head pocket and related method of manufacture

A lacrosse head pocket and a related method of manufacture are provided to facilitate consistent, repeatable and/or custom manufacture of lacrosse equipment. The pocket can be constructed from multiple different sections joined with one another, or can be knitted, weaved or otherwise assembled on an automated assembly machine from strands, and/or can be formed as a unitary textile material having regions/sections with different physical and/or mechanical properties. The pocket can be integrally molded within portions of a lacrosse head to eliminate manually constructed connections between the pocket and lacrosse head. The lacrosse head can be integrally molded with a lacrosse handle to provide a one-piece unitary lacrosse stick. The lacrosse pocket body can include one or more fused pocket areas. Related methods of manufacturing also are provided.

A fabric that includes an air jet core-spun yarn including a core composed of continuous filament thermoplastic yarns and a sheath composed of cellulose staple wrapper fibers or cellulose-rich staple fibers, wherein the fabric is treated with a flame retardant compound.

COMPOSITE ULTRA-HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYETHYLENE (UHMWPE) MATERIAL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE OF THE SAME
20200139665 · 2020-05-07 ·

Woven UHMWPE fabric stretches in the bias direction to such an extent that it is unsuitable for many potential applications and is porous, allowing air and water transmission. A composite UHMWPE material includes a single ply of high tenacity woven UHMWPE fabric having warp fibers in a first direction and weft fibers in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction. The UHMWPE fabric has first face and a second face. A stretch resisting axially oriented fusion layer is fused to at least one of the first face or the second face of the UHMWPE fabric with an axis aligned parallel to at least one of the UHMWPE fabric warp and weft axes, such that the stretch resisting fusion layer increases fabric tensile strength and inhibits bias stretch of the UHMWPE fabric, and renders the UHMWPE woven fabric air and water impermeable.
