Disclosed are hair care and hair cleansing compositions as well as skin care and skin cleansing compositions comprising a fibrous material of natural origin and obtained from plants. The fibrous material comprises micro-scaled and/or nano-scaled fibril agglomerates. Such compositions show pleasant skin feel and comfort during and after application, as well as fast drying and fast absorption into skin. The compositions obtained are also particularly well suited for the topical delivery of cosmetic and pharmaceutical active substances into skin. Additionally, a method to obtain said hair care or hair cleansing composition or said skin care or skin cleansing composition is disclosed.

Methods and compositions for the treatment of cellulosic biomass and products produced thereby

A two-step method for activating a cellulosic feedstock is described. The feedstock is subjected to a first high temperature activation step at a temperature greater than 190° C. and a second activation step at a lower temperature under alkali conditions. Also described are methods and compositions for the enzymatic hydrolysis of activated cellulose using one or more cellulase enzymes, a surfactant and polyaspartic acid. Also described are products of the methods.

System and method for mill effluent biological oxygen demand (BOD) reduction

A system and method of forming a molded pulp product that involves separately collecting, from a paper-making process, waste water containing short fibers at a first fiber consistency, waste water as dilution water containing fibers at a second fiber consistency that is lower than the first fiber consistency, and water containing long fibers, the long fibers having a length that is greater than a length of the short fibers, blending the waste water containing short fibers and the water containing long fibers to obtain a pulp slurry, and molding the pulp slurry into a molded pulp product at a pulp molding machine. In an embodiment, filtrate removed during the molding of the molded pulp product has a BOD measurement that is 95% less than a BOD measurement of the pulp slurry, where the BOD measurements are obtained using the EPA 405.1, SM5210B Test Method.

The present invention relates to a packing container using a coconut by-product, a grain by-product, or a coffee by-product, and a method for producing same. A paper packing container produced according to the present invention enables a packing container shape to be in a complete form by adjusting the moisture content of pulp of a coconut by-product, a grain by-product, or a coffee by-product, which is an eco-friendly raw material, before entering a molding process.

Method for manufacturing a fibrous web
11530514 · 2022-12-20 · ·

A method for manufacturing a fibrous web, such as web of paper, board, tissue or the like is disclosed. The method includes obtaining at least one fibre suspension of lignocellulosic and/or cellulosic fibres and feeding the fibre suspension into an intermediate residence entity. The fibre suspension including bacterial endospores, is discharged out of the intermediate residence entity via an outlet after a residence time of at least 2 hours in the intermediate residence entity and after a time delay the fibre suspension is formed into a fibrous web. Bacterial endospores are sensitized by adding a germinant surfactant including a primary or secondary ammonium head group and a linear unsubstituted C12-alkyl tail, to the fibre suspension at an addition point located at a lower part of the intermediate residence entity or after the outlet of the intermediate residence entity, but before the formation of the fibrous web.

Method and device for treating biomass
11492752 · 2022-11-08 · ·

The invention relates to a method for treating biomass (2). Biomass (2) is fed to a pressurized prehydrolysis reactor unit (8) by means of a feeding system (5, 7), wherein by means of the feeding system (5, 7) the biomass (2) is compressed. A filtrate is squeezed out of the biomass (2) by means of the feeding system (5, 7), in particular by a first plug screw (5) or a second plug screw (7) of the feeding system (5, 7). The biomass (2) is then thermally treated in the pressurized prehydrolysis reactor unit (8), discharged from the pressurized prehydrolysis reactor unit (8) afterwards, diluted with the filtrate before or after the discharge, and treated with an enzyme subsequently.
