The invention relates to a method for treating biomass (2). In a step (S10), biomass (2) and an impregnation liquid are fed into a first reactor unit (10) such that the biomass (2) is impregnated with the impregnation liquid while the biomass (2) is transferred through the first reactor unit (10) by a conveyor means (11). In another step (S20), the impregnated biomass (2a) is transferred from the first reactor unit (10) to a separation unit (25), wherein at least a part of the impregnation liquid is separated from the impregnated biomass (2a) within the separation unit. In a step (S30), the separated impregnation liquid is discharged from the separation unit (25), such that a first part (26a) of the impregnation liquid is recirculated back to the first reactor unit (10). The invention further relates to a system for treating biomass (2).

System and process for pulping wood

Wood pulping process including pulping wood to produce a pulping effluent or liquor. Pre-concentrating the liquor in a pre-concentration unit produces concentrated liquor, a contaminated condensate and a non-contaminated condensate. Directing the concentrated liquor to a multi-effect train of forced circulation solids concentrators that further concentrating the concentrated liquor to form a highly concentrated liquor. Directing the contaminated condensate produced by the pre-concentration unit to a steam stripper and stripping gases therefrom and in the process producing a contaminated vapor stream. Utilizing the contaminated vapor stream and its thermal energy to power the forced circulation solids concentrators of the multi-effect train.

System and a method for optimization of continuous digestion process

A method is disclosed for optimization of continuous digestion process. Exemplary embodiments can control a delignification process in a continuous pulp digester in an optimal way for different pulp grades taking into account process disturbances and model uncertainties. This can be achieved by customizing a generic mathematical model for a continuous digestion process which runs through a software application on a dedicated electronic device. The model can be updated periodically based on on-line information, and used with a plant optimization component involving multi-objective optimization to evaluate optimal set points for the controllers. A system is also disclosed for optimizing control of a continuous pulp digester.
