The doctor blade holder (7) comprises: a plurality of fingers (35) mounted on a beam (9), hinged around a rotation axis (37A) and configured to cumulatively form a housing seat (41) for the doctor blade (43); wherein the fingers (35) are pivotable independently from one another around said rotation axis (37A); at least one actuator (51) comprising at least one chamber (53) that can be inflated with pressurized fluid, configured and arranged so as to generate a thrust (f53) on the fingers (35) to make them pivot around said rotation axis (37A). Each finger (35) can be mounted and removed independently from the others on said beam (9).

Die coating on air supported shell

Methods and apparatuses for applying coatings on a moving web are provided. A coating die and a back-up roll engage with each other. The back-up roll includes a shell rotatably supported by a pressurized air layer. When a coating material is dispensed from the coating die onto the web to form a liquid coating, the pressure of the air layer is controlled such that the shell translates in space to balance forces from the air layer and the coating bead, while the web is being translated to drive the shell.

Conditioning doctor blade for fiber web machine

A conditioning doctor blade (11) for a fiber web machine contains a number of reinforcement fiber layers (24, 26) laminated on top of one another into an epoxy matrix (20), and silicon carbide particles (21), so that the reinforcement fiber layers (24, 26) have formed a fiber core (22) and surface fiber layers (23) on both sides of the fiber core (22). There is less epoxy matrix (20) in the fiber core (22) than in the surface fiber layers (23).

A doctor blade holder (7) for a doctor blade (43) adapted to coact with a cylindrical surface (1S) of a rotating cylinder (1). A plurality of fingers (35) are mounted on a beam (9), hinged around a rotation axis (37A) and configured to cumulatively form a housing seat (41) for the doctor blade (43). The fingers (35) are pivotable independently from one another around the rotation axis (37A). At least one elastic thrust member (51) is configured and arranged to generate a thrust on the fingers (35) to make them pivot around the rotation axis (37A). Each finger (35) has a locking element (67), to rigidly lock the finger to the beam (9).

Method for early warning chatter detection and asset protection management

The invention embodies the application of different combinations of the monitoring and data processing aspects as a means to develop an early warning chatter alarming system. Configuring an early warning chatter alarming system can be as simple as using n alarm settings to develop an alarming strategy from different trend conditions such as overall RMS, selected vibration frequencies, slope analysis, and wavelet analysis. A higher level of alarming is provided by using a time integrated approach to account for both intensity of the alarm variable and duration. Combining these different aspects with a predictive model incorporates process-operating conditions to enhance the alarming sensitivity for earlier detection and reduce false positives. Finally, combining the different alarming aspects with a rule-based decision making approach such as fuzzy logic allows alarming based on qualitative analysis of different data streams.
