Method for controlling hydrophobic particles in aqueous environment in paper or board manufacture
20180187374 · 2018-07-05 · ·

The invention relates to a method for controlling hydrophobic particles in aqueous environment in paper or board manufacture. The method comprises preparing an aqueous stock comprising natural fibrous material, feeding the stock to a wire section, where a fibrous web is formed by draining excess water through a wire, and adding a control chemical to aqueous environment at least in one dosage point between the preparation of the stock and the exit of the web from the wire section. The control chemical comprises performic acid, which is added to the aqueous stock, which has consistency of at least 3 weight-%.

PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF PAPER OR PAPERBOARD, PAPER OR PAPERBOARD PRODUCT OBTAINED AND USES THEREOF
20180155875 · 2018-06-07 ·

Process for the production of a cured pulp product suitable for use in the production of paper, paperboard, tissue paper, filter paper or fluff pulp, comprising the steps of attaching an anionic or amphoteric carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) to cellulosic fibres in acidic conditions or in the presence of divalent metal ions. Aluminium ions or divalent ions are then added to the slurry to a total molar concentration of from 0.0001 M to 0.5 M in the first pulp slurry. The first pulp slurry is then dewatered and cured in acidic conditions and a cured pulp product is provided. The cured pulp product is subsequently used in a paper making process to provide a paper-based product, whereby higher bulk is provided for the final paper-based product. Alternatively, the curing step is omitted and instead aluminium ions are added to the first pulp slurry and the pulp is directly used in a paper making process.

Methods and apparatus for manufacturing fiber-based microwavable food containers

Methods and apparatus for manufacturing a microwavable food container include: forming a wire mesh over a mold comprising a mirror image of the microwavable food container; immersing the wire mesh in a fiber-based slurry bath; drawing a vacuum across the wire mesh to cause fiber particles to accumulate at the wire mesh surface; and removing the wire mesh including the accumulated fiber particles from the slurry bath; wherein the slurry comprises a moisture barrier, an oil barrier, and a vapor barrier.

Composition of fibrous material
09976255 · 2018-05-22 ·

The present invention relates to a fibrous material composition having a predefined fraction of fresh fibres and/or waste paper with a further fraction of sweet grass, sedge, seagrass and/or algae fibres and adjuvants and water, where the weight fraction of sweet grass, sedge, seagrass and/or algae fibres is greater than 1 and less than 100 wt. % of the total material mass, in each case calculated as oven-dry material fraction. The invention further relates to a method for producing the fibrous material mixture and its use for producing fibrous-material-containing products.

A METHOD OF PRODUCING FILLER
20180112360 · 2018-04-26 · ·

The invention provides a method of producing a filler comprising calcium carbonate (PCC), preferably to be used in paper or paper board production or in fibre based composites. The method of the invention comprises the steps of; providing fly ash generated in paper or paper board production; fractionating said fly ash in at least one step, whereby a coarser fraction is separated from a finer fraction; forming a suspension of said coarser fraction; adding carbon dioxide to said suspension to form precipitated calcium carbonate. The method of the invention avoids problems with high amounts of arsenic and heavy metals in the production of filler comprising PCC, when using ash generated in paper or paper board production as a raw material. It has been shown that harmful elements, such as arsenic and heavy metals, are primarily accumulated in the finer fractions of the fly ash. Thus, by using the coarser fraction in the step of carbonation, the amount of arsenic and heavy metals in the final product is reduced.
