DURABLE, FIRE RESISTANT, ENERGY ABSORBING AND COST-EFFECTIVE STRENGTHENING SYSTEMS FOR STRUCTURAL JOINTS AND MEMBERS
20170321422 · 2017-11-09 ·

The disclosed technology is a system and a method for strengthening one or more joints of a structure having a plurality of structural members forming a vacuous area at each joint. The method includes computing limit load bearing capacity for the structure, at a joint, securing a filler module to the joint, at the vacuous area, the filler module having a plurality of surfaces so that when secured within the vacuous area, some of the surfaces are tangential to the members of the structure at its joint, and one or more of the surfaces are non-tangential to the members of the structure, and applying at least one layer of continuous fiber reinforced polymer wrap about the filler module and the members at the joint. The filler module of the disclosed technology is designed and configured to dissipate energy from a load applied to the structure, and at least doubling the load bearing capacity for the structure, at the joint.

Rainwater receiver of movable boarding bridge

A rainwater receiver of a movable boarding bridge may comprise rainwater receivers provided at: an outer tunnel; an inner tunnel disposed inside the outer tunnel; an inner tunnel footpath equipped in the inner tunnel and configured in the form of a footpath so that passengers can walk thereon; an outer tunnel footpath disposed at the lower end of the inner tunnel footpath and configured in a multilayer form; and the lower end of the outer tunnel footpath. A tunnel path part of the movable boarding bridge configured as above is positioned to be separated from the rainwater receivers so that the rainwater receivers are not seen by passengers inside a tunnel. In addition, since there is no height difference caused by the rainwater receivers, there is an advantage in that problems such as passengers' sprained ankles can be resolved.

Bridge assembly and method

A bridge assembly includes a plurality of platform members which may be secured to support beams via individual platform chassis which are configured to allow tool-less attachment bolt heads thereto. A plurality of specially configured clamps are attached to the free ends of the bolts and the clamps are used to secure the platform members to the platform chassis. The platform chassis are each secured to the outer support beams via L-brackets that are mounted between the chassis and support beams. The support beams include flanged channels wherein the heads of a plurality of bolts may be attached without the need for tools. The platform members may be laid in either a parallel or perpendicular orientation with respect to the outer support beams with two different clamp styles being used depending on the orientation selected.

Transition slab between the abutment and the deck of a bridge with expansion and contraction joints having a long service life, and methods for absorbing the expansion and contraction movements of the deck of a bridge
09695559 · 2017-07-04 · ·

A transition slab connected at opposing ends to a deck compression slab and to an anchoring. The transition slab absorbs the expansions of the deck by means of compressing sheets of polymer, elastomer or the like, that are arranged in parallel spacing and integrated in the transition slab to be oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the road. The transition slab absorbs the contraction movements of the deck limited expansion due to the summation of crack openings in induced cracks. Crack planes are created by forms made of wood, polymer or the like arranged in parallel, spaced relation within the body of the transition slab.

Foundation system for bridges and other structures

A bridge system is provided that utilizes foundation structures that are formed of the combination of precast and cast-in-place concrete. A method of constructing the combination precast and cast-in-place concrete foundation structures involves receiving at a construction site a precast concrete foundation unit having elongated upright wall members that define a channel therebetween, and multiple upright supports located within the channel; placing the precast concrete foundation unit at a desired use location; delivering concrete into the channel while the precast concrete foundation unit remains at the desired use location; and allowing the concrete to cure-in-place such that the elongated upright wall members are connected to the cured-in-place concrete by reinforcement embedded within both the cured-in-place concrete and the upright wall members. The bridge units may be placed before the pouring step to embed the bottoms of the bridge units in the cast-in-place concrete.
