A snow removal device in the form of a three panel scoop or plough includes a center panel with two side panels hinged or otherwise connected to the center panel. All three panels can have hand holes for a user manipulating the scoop when pushing or scooping snow from a driveway or other surface. The panels can be substantially planar and have a lip or scraper on a forward edge to assist in scooping snow. The side panels can be hinged to the center panel in an opposite fashion to allow the scoop to be folded for storage in a Z-shaped folding movement to a substantially flat, three layer configuration. A container can be removably attached to one of the panels. The container can be used to hold ice-melting granules for application by a user to icy surfaces during a snow removal operation.

A material calculator for a truck to deliver a predetermined quantity of brine per mile driven by the truck for a known route of miles independent of and proportional to truck speed, wherein the truck carries a known number of gallons of brine and a known number of pounds of salt. The material calculator has a processor accepting entry values of route miles to be driven, number of times the route of miles is to be driven, number of gallons of brine carried by the truck, and the number of pounds of salt carried by the truck. The processor has software for calculating dispensing of the brine and salt so that each is exhausted when the route is completed. A hydraulic pump pumps hydraulic fluid to a variable flow positive displacement pump to implement the calculated number of gallons of brine per mile to be dispensed for the known route.

Method and Snow Removal Blade For The Removal of Snow From A Road Surface

The salt spreader heating system is a mobile apparatus. The salt spreader heating system: a) contains granulated material; b) heats the granulated material; and, c) distributes the granulated material over a surface. The salt spreader heating system comprises a silo, a pedestal, and a spreader. The pedestal supports the silo. The spreader attaches to the silo. The silo stores the granulated material. The silo heats the granulated material. The silo transports the granulated material to the spreader. The spreader distributes the granulated material over a surface area. The salt spreader heating system is configured for use with a truck. The truck is further defined with a bed and a radiator system. The pedestal raises the silo over the bed of the truck. The radiator system cools the engine of the truck. The silo uses the heat transferred from the engine to the radiator system to heat the granulated material.

The present invention takes into consideration all of three factors causing road freezing 1. the temperature of a road surface; 2. the presence of moisture on the road surface (snowfall, rainfall, dew, fog, and melted water from a snow removal operation, etc.); and 3. the concentration of deicing agents (chlorides) sprayed to prevent freezing, accurately measures these factors, considers interactions among these factors, and predicts when the road is going to freeze over. Therefore, the present invention allows for making accurate decisions on whether to perform snow removal, when to perform snow removal, and the amount of deicing agents to spray, and therefore allows a road manager, regardless of snow removal experience, to make an accurate and quick decision on whether to perform snow removal.
