AUTOMATION OF WATER FLOW IN NETWORKS
Disclosed is a control system for a water network. The control system includes a plurality of remotely-located monitoring and or monitoring and automatic control stations each including an automation controller for local control and automation, and each in communication via a dual-ring communication topology for system or wide-area control. The dual-ring facilitates redundant peer-to-peer data exchange to provide upstream and downstream water flow and water quality information. Systems described herein may calculate flow differential based on water flow data from each of the monitoring stations, and control flow based on the calculated flow differential.
Unpowered water purification system for a riverfront landscape constructed wetland
The invention discloses an unpowered water purification system for a riverfront landscape constructed wetland, comprising a riparian wetland constructed along a lake-land ecotone of a river, lake-pond. The riparian wetland comprises a plurality of alternatively arranged wetland islands and watercourses formed between them. The bottom surface of the riparian wetland is lower than the normal water level of the river, lake-pond, and the upper surface of the wetlands is flush with the normal water level of the river, lake-pond. Plants are planted on the wetlands. A revetment is constructed between the riparian wetland and the river, lake-pond, and its upper surface is between the bottom surface of the riparian wetland and the upper surface of the wetlands. The invention achieves good purification and landscape effects. The purification system has some advantages such as good landscape effects, simple management without energy and power consumption, and thus is durable and stable.
Expandable carriage with adjustable cross nut
An apparatus for adjustably positioning an extremity or body part such as knees, hands, or feet for a surgical procedure comprising a carriage including a base adapted to engage a track for selective positioning there along, an arm configured to pivotably attach to the base, and a socket formed by the joining of the base and arm, the socket configured to accept a ball of an extremity holder. The apparatus further comprises a clamping assembly and an adjustable cross nut assembly. The adjustable cross nut assembly provides clocking and/or adjustable positioning of an internal thread start to provide optimal positioning of the handle that achieves the clamping effect, as the threads are subject to wear and plastic deformation due to use over time.
Securable device having a substantially flexible shaft and one or more protrusions and method for securing the same
A device comprising a corkscrew; a substantially flexible shaft operably attached to the corkscrew at a first end of the shaft; and one or more protrusions extending from the shaft between the first end of the shaft and a second end of the shaft. Methods of using the device are also disclosed.
Plunger wave generator apparatus for efficiently producing waves in a body of water
An apparatus for creating a surfing wave in a body of water. An apparatus for the purpose of efficiently producing a variety of surfing waves having a repetition rate and size suitable for surfing. The waves are generated using a controlled up and down motion of mechanical plungers in a way that allows the control of the shape and therefore surf characteristics of the wave. A linear array of plungers is used so that they interact in different ways with bathometry of the body of water and can be changed to further alter the surfing characteristics of the waves. The motion of the individual plungers can be adjusted so that effects of different wave travel distance to the bathometry can be compensated for consistent wave characteristics.
Canal control system
The invention relates to a canal control system for controlling the water level or water flow in a canal system (2), comprising: (a) a centralized master controller (20), (b) a local slave controller (30), (c) a wireless communication system between the centralized master controller and the local slave controller, (d) a (fixed) reference point (8) or (movable) marker (11) relating to the water level in the canal system, and (e) an adjustable actuator (9) in the canal system, such as agate or pump, whereby the local slave controller comprises a mobile device (13) capable of displaying a human-readable instruction which an operator can act upon to set the adjustable actuator. The operator takes a picture of the water level and/or of the setting of the adjustable actuator. The data of the picture is used for updating a mathematical model of predictive control of the canal system and for calculating the setting of the present actuator and for determining which actuator is to be visited next by the operator.

Method for preventing repeated (tsunami, storm surge, and river) disasters by forces of nature
Provided is a technique for preventing repeated river, storm surge, and tsunami disasters. Sea hollow (UTSURO) is constructed at an estuary, violent tide is generated in an estuary basin water area of a river, ebb and flow energy is caused to exceed flow energy due to gravity in a downstream part of the estuary flow area conventionally dominated by the flow energy due to gravity, the flow energy in the river is thus redistributed to deeply dig the riverbed, enhance flood discharge ability, and prevent repeated river disasters, a levee body of the sea hollow (UTSURO) is shared, tsunami or storm surge is reflected in a coastal sea area and is prevented in the sea area, tsunami or storm surge invading the estuary, or estuary flood is caused to overflow into an upstream migration water path constituting the sea hollow (UTSURO), and peak cut thereof is performed.
SURFING WAVE GENERATION
A wave generating apparatus (100) for generating at least one wave in a surface of a body of water (102) has at least one wave generating object (12, 150) with at least one wave generating surface (13, 152), drive means (108, 110) for causing the wave generating object to oscillate along a path (106), with the wave generating object in contact with the body of water for at least some of the time. When there is a single wave generating object (12, 150), the wave extends away from the wave generating object and when there are multiple wave generating objects (12, 150), the wave generating objects (12, 150) and wave generating surfaces (13, 152) are configured such that substantially all of any waves generated extend away from the wave generating objects.
Process to maintain large clean recreational bodies of water
The invention discloses a process to implement and maintain water bodies larger than 15,000 m.sup.3 for recreational use, such as lakes or artificial lagoons, with excellent color, transparency and cleanness properties at low cost, which comprises the following steps: a.providing a structure able to contain a large water body larger than 15,000 m.sup.3; b.feeding the structure of step (a) with inlet water having iron and manganese levels lower than 1.5 ppm and turbidity lower than 5 NTU; c.measuring water pH, ideally it should be within a range lower than 7.8; d.adding an oxidizing agent to the water contained in the structure of step (a), with which a 600 mV minimal ORP is controlled in water for a minimal period of 4 hours and in maximal cycles of 48 hours; e.adding a flocculating agent in concentrations within 0.02 and 1 ppm with maximal frequencies of 6 days and cleaning the bottom of the structure of step (a) with a suction device to remove precipitated impurities from the bottom of said structure, together with the additional flocculants and;
