Watering systems

A method of underground watering utilizes a pouch-like container product made by joining a first sheet having SAP particles adhered to a first surface with a second sheet to form a container partially filled with such particles. The application of pressure, for example by passing the product through a roll nip, facilitates joining of the sheets and causes the particles to break through at least the one of the sheets to create an opening whereby free volume is created to permit the particles to expand when in contact with a liquid. The resultant product is used to collect, store, and dispense water-containing liquids into the soil for watering of agricultural plants, trees, and the like. A composite underground watering element is also included in an embodiment of the invention. The inventive products may also be used as a pad, including a propagation pad, to collect, store, and dispense water-containing-liquids into plant vessels to provide watering of plants. Also included are underground watering of athletic fields and golf course greens, erosion control products and plant root balls having a watering collar.

An apparatus and system for drawing water from a water source into a flowing water body comprises a tubular member defined by a sidewall extending between an inlet and an outlet and a central passage therethrough and a drainage pipe having an internal passage therethrough. The drainage pipe passes through the sidewall of the tubular member and has an outlet located within the central passage. The drainage outlet is oriented in a direction towards the outlet of the tubular member and has an unobstructed continuous profile extending there through. The apparatus further comprises a frame adapted to support the tubular member within a body of flowing water at a height above a bottom of the body of flowing water below a top surface of the flowing water.

Modular liquid waste treatment system and method
09783439 · 2017-10-10 · ·

A modular liquid waste treatment system is disclosed. In accordance with some embodiments, the system includes a central distribution unit and one or more treatment fins in flow communication therewith. The distribution unit may be configured to receive liquid waste from a given source and distribute that waste, at least in part, to one or more treatment fins. In turn, bacteria present in a given treatment fin treat the liquid waste, and the resultant treated liquid may drain from the fin to the surrounding environment. In some embodiments, a given treatment fin may include porous media providing a large surface area on which bacteria may grow to facilitate treatment. The system may be installed in and/or above the ground, and in some cases may be surrounded, at least in part, with treatment sand and/or other treatment media. The system may be used in aerobic and/or anaerobic processing of liquid waste.

HYDROCYCLONE AND METHOD TO REMOVE PARTICLES FROM LIQUID STREAMS
20170190599 · 2017-07-06 · ·

This invention is directed to a hydrocyclone that will separate particles from a liquid stream, such as from an irrigation water stream for use in drip irrigation. The invented hydrocyclone has an inlet, a separation section, a clean liquid outlet, and a slurry outlet, wherein the separation section has a vortex and a cone, and wherein the vortex length is more than three times longer than the cone length, and the cone has an angle of about 45 degrees. The invented hydrocyclone also has a vortex diameter to vortex length ratio of between about 0.8 and about 1.2, and a cone length to vortex length ratio of between about 0.28 and about 0.35. The invented hydrocylone may be of unitary construction. When in use, the invented hydrocyclone may create a clean water stream having at least 78% fewer particles than the original liquid stream.

Leaching unit having pillars and canopy

A plastic leaching unit for receiving water when buried in trenches in soil comprises a plurality of pillars interconnected by struts. A canopy made of sheet material is attached to the tops of the pillars. Preferably, the canopy is perforated and is overlaid with geotextile. The pillars are arranged as spaced apart integral assemblies to enable lateral and vertical bending of the leaching unit, for conforming to a not-straight trench. Leaching units may be stacked one upon the other within a trench.
